How to remove tea stains from cups in minutes with the 3p trick - Daily Record

We all probably have at least one mug in our house that has suffered a tea or coffee stain from leaving the drink in for too long. It seems that no rubbing can remove dark circles, and even when they're clean, they still look dirty.

However, cleaning geeks have taken to social media to share their best tricks for removing tea and coffee stains from the inside of cups, and one of them costs just 3p.

On Ms Hinch's Facebook page with cleaning tips, one cleaning fanatic wrote: "Tea stains stubborn on cups, please help? Not just "a little elbow strength" because I've tried a lot, it makes no difference. Easier ways? Unravel the mysteries.

Fortunately, people quickly developed their own means of removing unattractive spots. They're caused by tannin found in tea and coffee, and while they're not harmful, they can ruin a mug's appearance.

One trick seemed to be very popular, with a number of Ms. Hinch fans swearing by the cheap and easy trick. One person wrote: "Use a denture tablet."

Another agreed, saying: "I use denture tablets and boiling water. Leave it on for a while and then wash as usual. Much safer than bleach and does the job perfectly. I prefer to buy the mint tablets because I can feel if the tablet has lingered a bit and I still need to wash the cup a bit.

While a third added: "Denture tablets are amazing, do not use bleach as it will damage tooth enamel and make the stain worse."

If you get stuck with those stubborn stains, just fill the mug with hot water and put the toothpaste in it. It will start bubbling and cracking the stains inside when it's been soaked for about 10 minutes.

These tablets are sold in most supermarkets and pharmacies. Boots is selling 30 denture cleaning tablets for just £1, meaning cleaning a cup would only cost 3p.
