Ivan's cleaning tips
Iwan Carrington is a digital content creator who can be found on all social media platforms and YouTube, bringing cleaning, organizing and home improvement hacks to his many followers. He is also part of the team starting an American-style Sort Your Life Out program called Big Block Overhaul.
It's billed as an "unprecedented social experiment in which a team of experts helps a group of neighboring families work together to declutter, organise, clean and redesign their homes in just five days".
Iwan's fan base has grown rapidly in recent years thanks to his handy cleaning tips. Before cleaning up his life, he shared some of his key principles, starting with reading labels:
"Many cleaning products have multiple uses, so it can be worth studying the label and seeing how many different things one product can clean before buying multiple. For example, white vinegar is good for cleaning kitchen surfaces, windows, and removing limescale from showers.
This tip pairs with another of her cleaning mantras, which is to stay in control of what you own: " Take inventory under the sink before you toss other cleaning products into your shopping cart: I see so many cupboards full of undercooked items." stuff."empty". Detergents are not used. You can do most chores with white vinegar and dish soap.
He continued, " Use your time wisely , most cleaning products are only effective if you give them enough time. So consider soaking things up and allowing enough time for product to soak overnight, bleaching and using cotton balls to keep it from evaporating."
Ivan's last tip not only reduces your mountain of laundry, but also saves you money because you can reduce the number of washes.
He told the BBC : "Half your laundry , washing is a big job and I often feel like laundry baskets are overflowing with hardly used items. Of course if the clothes smell then it's time to wash them but if it's a sweater I'll put it on you once and it's still fresh remember to air it out and put it back on.
"With jeans, you can put them in a tote bag in the freezer to kill bacteria. The clothes also last longer."
