rule 1
Blue gear, vehicles, ghost grenades, and ships should be scrapped as soon as they take up space.
You can easily pick them up from collections for a handful of shards. There is no risk of losing her forever. They'll be waiting for you if you're feeling nostalgic for the good old days of Destiny 2.
Rule #2
The same rule applies to all exotic weapons in the game.
In any case, your advantages remain the same. And you won't lose the masterpiece if you've already disassembled it. What sucks though is that you lose kill count on this one and have to use another weapon to increase it from the base level of 1350 after crafting. But hey, if you're not a frequent user of this exotic, it's best to leave it in Collections until it's ready to be used.
Rule #3
Drop Sunset's weapons.
"Look at the flowers, my dear." These pictures alone bring back strong memories. Objectively, there's no reason to keep the Sunset weapons. You can't infuse them beyond Base 1350, and there are better weapons out there that do the job with fancy traits and elemental bursts better.
But there are mods and perks that you can no longer get. And some of those guns are just too good to throw away. I don't blame you for keeping them in your vault if that's what you want. It won't hurt to keep some memories of better times.
Rule #4
Ask yourself, "Will I ever use this gun?"
If the answer is "maybe," you should probably toss it for vault space. You see, Destiny 2 supports a lot of weapons. But if you don't play this game 24/7, you won't be able to spend your time with every gun in your vault. Pick your favorites and move on.
Find out which benefits are right for you. Ultimately, the judgment comes down to whether you actually take advantage of it. Random throws with a PvP advantage on one side and a PvE advantage on the other actually make the weapon weaker in both activities than one that combines the two advantages.
Rule #5
Choose your favorites carefully.
If you've played Destiny 2 long enough, you'll become attached to certain weapons. They might have sentimental value, or see something in them that most players couldn't see, or an incredibly high kill count. This is where you start arguing for the preservation of these weapons.
Take my Wishbringer for example. It's pretty average in every way, but I love it. For one, their sights are clean AF without all the dangling bits that rock other shotguns. Second, the perks suit my playstyle. Compare it to the other shotgun in the same frame, the IKELOS shotgun. The IKELOS is better in many ways, it can even be tinkered, but it doesn't come with slideshot. That pretty much justifies keeping the Wishbringer as a PvP-only weapon.
Rule #6
It is acceptable to have multiple copies as long as they serve a specific purpose.
Although I make it a rule of thumb to keep a copy of a gun in my safe, I often have another on hand. If you can avoid it, stick with a PvP roll and a PvE roll. Of course, if the gun is that good, you can keep a third one for fun.
In this case it will be the Lodbrok-C simply because it has some pretty impressive perk combos. And I switch between them quite often depending on what build I have on hand.
Rule #7
If the weapon you're looking at doesn't bring you joy, there's no point in keeping it.
You can discuss keeping a weapon if it ever becomes a meta . The truth is these days are rare and probably only apply to a handful of guns. I know that j'ai l'impression d'être complètement Marie Kondo à ce sujet, mais si vous êtes à distance proche de 590 emplacements avant le launch de Lightfall, vous avez besoin d'une intervention pour vous convaincre de créer un espace en sure. You don't want the headache of walking into the new year of content slowing you down with a full vault.
Rule #8
If your total armor is 65 or less, dismount.
Don't you dare argue about it. Get the armor, ditch it, and it will become part of your collection as a much higher trinket that can really help you with endgame content. Armor hoarding is very bad practice.
Rule #9
Get these pieces of gear to form the basis of a build.
So you have your 66+ armor pieces. It's cool and stuff. But they won't do anything, just sit in their vault. Read some building guide articles or watch some YouTube videos. anything. Just collect these pieces and do something with them.
Rule #10
Have an idea of what you want to do with your exotic armor.
Unlike exotic weapons, exotic armor pieces come with random roles. This makes it difficult to decide whether or not to remove them. But overall, you should have an idea of how you want to use them.
Take the Hunter's Shinobu Vow exotic gauntlets, for example. The part improves the functionality of your Skip Grenades. So you should stick with the character with the most discipline as long as you have that total of 66 or higher. It's tough and totally RNG dependent, but that's the nature of the beast. If you can and it deserves a place in your vault.
