When we think about cleaning our homes , we usually do not associate this activity with a fun adrenaline activity like driving a race car. However, a new study shows that the two very different periods have much more in common than we think.
The Clean Rush study , conducted by Mr. Clean, revealed quite shocking things about simple cleaning. This is how they did it: The study measured galvanic skin reaction (GSR) and heart rate (HR), two uncontrollable automatic body reactions, among the study participants while performing various types of cleaning tasks.
While clearing up the participants, the study found that changes such as enthusiasm and emotional enthusiasm were behind the changes in the GSR and human resources. This reaction showed that the purification resulted in a significant adrenaline output , comparable to that after a hard race or training.
It has been shown that cleaning has an effect similar to that of adrenaline pumping but also has other positive side effects. 100% of participants said that cleanliness gives them peace of mind and a sense of control over the environment, creating a less stressful environment. The participants also found that cleanliness gave them a sense of accomplishment and made them feel more determined, inspired and proud.
If you're looking for some excitement this weekend, just take a mop or broom and clean your house. Your mood will thank you (besides, it is much safer than riding on the racetrack).
Mr. Clean's cleanup study was conducted in August 2018 in collaboration with Ipsos Public Affairs .
