Ecological cleaning driven by schools.

The Eco-Waste Coalition environmental group on Saturday called on subscribers to the Eskwela Brigade program to ensure clean-up, repair and refurbishment of schools is carried out in an environmentally sound manner. The Eskwela Brigade is an annual school maintenance measure taken by the Ministry of Education that lasts one week to ensure that public elementary and secondary schools throughout the country are ready in time for the school's inauguration. School teachers, parents, students, community groups, volunteers, and even policemen and military personnel selected brooms and brushes, cleaned the walls, and began cleaning the environment and classrooms in public schools. Countries "We welcome the annual implementation of Brigada Eskwela, under the direction of DepEd, which is an excellent expression of the timeless spirit of Filipino Bayanihan," said Thony Dizon, chemical safety activist EcoWaste. "As actors in these extraordinary efforts of volunteers, we ask you to avoid practices that tend to generate more waste and pollution, such as the disposal of mixed waste, open burning, the use of lead paint and hazardous cleaning," he added. The group also invited winners and losers to "discretely support" the program in order to thank the public for their support in recent interim surveys. "Instead of by-election tarps invite political well-intentioned to join, without fanfare, school cleaning or donate essential items in the Eskwela Brigade, such as brooms and brooms, pans, wipes, soaps, buckets, mercury-LED lamps and lead-free paints," said Dizon The group suggests the following green tips for cleaning, which also comply with government policy and regulations: • the correct release separation Note at the source to facilitate recycling or to minimize composting and waste volume • not be removed throwing waste Compost biodegradable waste and garden waste to produce a natural fertilizer or an activator soil for the garden of the school • Clean installation recycling of the school, also known as the ecology center, the container or to prevent pollution of the environment such as particulate matter, heavy metals and dioxins Separators for existing substances u includes and properly labeled composting agents. • Choose safer detergents and avoid the use of substances that attack the eyes, skin and respiratory tract, such as oxalic acid and hydrochloric acid. • For indoor and outdoor schools, furniture and facilities, gymnasiums, playground equipment and other school equipment, use only permanent and safe paints. and • Avoid dry sanding or dry scraping of painted surfaces that may contain lead to prevent lead dust from spreading in the area. "Respecting these green councils will help ensure that the Eskwela Brigade is free of waste and toxic substances that benefit the entire school community and the environment," said Dizon.
