When you're done with spring cleaning and watching the sunny season, you may find your windows need good interior and exterior cleaning. Window cleaning can be a home improvement job, especially if you do not have too many windows that are hard to reach.
Paper or microfiber fabrics clean the glass best. Some wooden flaps specially designed for this task are also good. Avoid rags or cotton towels that leave lint. (Old newspapers will also do wonders in your glass! Just look for ink in your hands.)
The store-bought aerosol chemicals work quite well and do not require a special mix. If you prefer, mix a cup of alcohol, a cup of water and a tablespoon of vinegar.
Simple ammonia can clean cloudy glass. Never mix it with vinegar and do not use ammonia in stained glass or solder windows.
Hot soapy water can also clean the glass. Then rinse with water to remove soap residue. A splash of vinegar in the water adds a nice glow.
Here are some tips to get rid of the traces: Walking up and down one side of the glass and the other side by side. This will help you to see where the trails are.
If you have casement windows, you're in luck. You can clean the inside of the house from both sides. Otherwise, you will have to go outside for half of the work. If you have windows on the second floor, you can clean with the help of telescopic tools without a ladder.
If you are using a ladder, work with a friend to stabilize it during cleaning.
