How to clean a stainless steel sink with our stealth cleaning trick

We are not big fans of stainless steel sinks. It is devilishly difficult to keep them clean and bright ... but you can remove stains, grease, food, lime and water and restore the shine with our trick. So if you are installing a stainless steel sink or already have one that is not optimal, read on.

For more tips on cleaning stainless steel , from stoves to taps, see our main guide.

1. Rinse off the dirt

Start with a clean sink to make long-term work easier.

2. Sprinkle baking soda over the sink.

Sprinkle baking soda / baking soda all over the area while the entire sink is still damp, including the taps. Let it stand for a few minutes (up to half an hour is fine) to get your work done.

3. Wipe gently with a cloth

Gently wipe the baking soda inside (not outside) the sink with a damp microfiber cloth (see our best deals today) and work in the corners and around the taps. Do you need something more difficult? An old toothbrush is enough (don't be tempted to use an exfoliating pad, it will leave scratches).

4. Add vinegar to the mixture.

Spray undiluted white vinegar into the sink covered with baking soda with a spray bottle (see our best results below). Listen to the bubbling.

5. Rinse and polish the sink

Rinse the sink with warm water and press it on with a clean microfiber cloth. Satisfied with the shine? It's over. Do you think it could be lighter? continue reading

6. Add a dash of oil

It now seems like a recipe ... add a pinch of oil and run it through the sink with a clean, dry cloth. Why? This gives your stainless steel sink a better shine.
