Spring Cleaning: Seven ways to clean your walls - the most important surface to never ignore

Cleaning your walls may not be high on your spring cleaning list, but when was the last time you washed them? While vigorous scrubbing with soapy water can do more harm than good, there are many gentler ways to thoroughly clean walls without damaging the paint. It's easy to remove nasty stains, stains, and even odors from your walls with a few simple tools, and here's how to use them.

For a quick wash, use a mild detergent.

Kitchen walls are particularly prone to trapping grease and dirt, so a more thorough scrubbing is important to remove stubborn dirt.

Fill a clean bucket with warm water and add a capful of mild liquid detergent.

Soak up the liquid with a clean sponge and wring it out before wiping down the walls with a sponge.

Take cold water and rinse out the solution about 10 minutes after applying the detergent and let it dry.

You must be careful to wring out the sponge well before washing the walls to avoid water and drop stains.

To speed up the drying process, take a clean, dry microfiber cloth and gently wipe the wall to absorb excess water.

Vacuum matt walls

Glossy color is more durable than matte finish formulations, especially when it comes to cleaning.

If your matte walls are looking less weathered, use your vacuum's soft brush attachment to remove dust and dirt from the surface.

Treat latex paint with a cleaning spray

Latex gear can easily be cleaned with an all-purpose household cleaner.
