Gurgaon: MCG Commissioner Ashok Kumar Garg ordered health workers to ensure cleanliness in the city before the next one Survekshan Investigation.
While chairing a meeting with sanitation staff on Wednesday, he assured that the civic body would resolve all grievances of the staff but stressed their responsibility to keep the city sparkling clean. The commissioner also said efforts would be made to put all vulnerable waste sites under CCTV surveillance.
Garg said improving and maintaining cleanliness is a top priority for the society. "Immediate steps will be taken to provide sheds, seating, toilets, warehouses and drinking water facilities at sanitation workers' sites. The tender process has been completed and supervisors have been asked to identify locations in their respective areas for setting up these facilities," Garg said.
At the meeting, sanitation department supervisors expressed concern about this illegal waste disposal throughout the city. They found that this practice forced them to clear trash before carrying out regular cleaning tasks such as sweeping streets, causing delays. In response, the Commissioner assured them that surveillance by health security personnel would be increased at these vulnerable landfill sites to deter such activities and arrest violators.
During the meeting, the commissioner introduced a new policy requiring two employees to be stationed at each dumpster point.
