How to clean your Apple Watch

First, turn off your Apple Watch. Once connected, remove the watch from the charger. Remove the straps by pressing the buttons that attach a strap to the device and protective cases.

Now gently wipe the screen, side frames, and bottom of the device with a lint-free cloth. If necessary, you can dampen the cloth in fresh water. This should clean most of the surface unless your watch has stains or dirt in the deep corners.

To remove stains, you can use a cloth with 70% isopropyl alcohol or a cloth with 75% ethyl alcohol. Apple also recommends using Clorox disinfecting wipes .

Now check your watch for dirt. If you notice dirt or dust buildup around the speaker or microphone openings, use a cotton swab to remove it. If the residue doesn't come out, the company also recommends running the watch under "warm, cold, gently running water until clean."

To clean the Digital Crown on your Apple Watch, run this part of the watch under a gentle stream of cold and warm water and press continuously to push out anything caught between the Digital Crown and the case.

Do not use soap, detergent, compressed air, or other cleaning agents on your Apple Watch. Finally, dry the device with another piece of microfiber or glasses cleaning cloth.

It's important to note that Yosemite Facelift volunteers have collected over a million pounds of trash in Yosemite over the past 20 years.

How to Clean Your Gas or Charcoal Grill (Just in Time for Labor Day Weekend)

Without looking, you probably know if your grill needs a cleaning, and as we near the end of summer, there's a good chance it does. Cleaning your grill means loving your grill and it will make a world of difference in the flavor of the food you take off the grill . (A little char is one thing, but nobody wants a burnt taste in their bib .) Also, dirty grates attract bacteria, can contaminate food, and make you sick. A dirty grill is also dangerous, as fatty deposits and encrusted leftover food can start an unwanted fire in your garden.

And then there's the health of your grill to consider. The same accumulation of dirt will drastically shorten the life of your Weber or Char-Broil and reduce its day-to-day performance. Gas grills rely on clean burners that allow for an unobstructed flow of propane. If the shell of a gas or charcoal grill is not emptied or cleaned regularly, it will rust and spoil much faster.

If you're wondering how to properly clean and care for your grill so it lasts longer and doesn't cause problems this summer, here are a few simple steps. For this article I used a propane fueled model to illustrate the best grill cleaning techniques, but this routine can work for charcoal grills , pellet smokers, and Kamado grills as well. (See How to Clean a Cast Iron Skillet and How to Clean Your Kitchen in Under 15 Minutes for more cleaning tips.)

How often should you clean your grill?

How often you need to clean your grill depends on how often you use it and how dirty it gets during use. Most experts recommend deep cleaning your grill at least twice a year and doing a lighter routine cleaning after each use. If you grill a lot (or aren't that good at cleaning up after dinner), three times a year would be a better schedule. If you grill seasonally, you should definitely give your grill a thorough cleaning before storing it for the winter, and probably again in the middle of peak season.

How to properly clean a grill

1. Open the grill and take it apart.

First you have to open the grill and remove its different parts. This will give you access to the main chamber of the grill. Usually located below the grates, heavy leftovers and droplets of fat fall out here.

CNET Home Advice logo

Start with a cold grill. Open the hood, remove the cooking grates and set them aside. Some propane models also have one or more metal heat sinks that sit over the burners. If your grill has these, remove them as well.

2. Clean the inside of the grill.

Inside the grill, also known as the "grill box", large amounts of fat and leftover food often accumulate. Using an inexpensive spatula (metal or plastic) or an old spatula, scrape down the sides of the cookbox to remove as much dirt as possible.

Any thin, flat tool will do. Just make sure it offers a good surface or grip to hold on to. You might also want to think about getting a pair of work gloves as it's bound to be some dirty work.

On charcoal and wood pellet grills, ash collects in the charcoal pans and in the fire pits. This in turn restricts airflow and ultimately affects cooking performance. And with pellet grills, the ash can cause the pellet system to misfire. Sometimes this situation leads to a dangerous overheating condition if too much fuel is ignited at once.

Avoid this by regularly cleaning the grill of ash deposits. However, make sure you do this when the ash has completely cooled.

3. Disconnect the tubes from the burners.

When you have a gas grill , the burner tubes are often clogged. A symptom of fouled burners is reduced flame size. You can also burn with an orange color instead of the usual blue. Both indicate unusually low temperatures and a too weak grill.

Typically, a gas grill will have multiple burner tubes, but some may only have one. Gently clean the small holes in the tubes with a nylon or steel wire brush. Be sure to stroke outwards from the center of the tube, moving to the sides (not up or down). Otherwise, there is a risk of foreign objects entering the pipe or holes instead of cleaning them.

4. Clean the cooking grates.

Raise the grill, set it to the highest setting and close the hood. It may even be that the burner dials show a certain degree of cleanliness. After a few minutes, open the lid and vigorously scrape the grates. I recommend using a bristle-free metal grill brush, like the $21 Kona Safe Clean Grill Brush. It is made of stainless steel and contains no bristles. Therefore it is safe to use on porcelain, ceramic, steel and cast iron surfaces.

You can also use a nylon brush, but make sure you only do this when the grill has cooled. Other options include the $17 GrillArt grill brush and scraper or the $10 Char Broil nylon bristle grill brush .

It may happen that a thorough cleaning is required, for example at the beginning of the barbecue season. To loosen charred and stubborn dirt, soak the grates in soapy water overnight. Another option is to rub the grates with a spray-on grill cleaner like Simple Green .

5. Prevent future accumulations

Certain measures can help to prevent the formation of dirt and grease deposits. One method is to oil the hot grill grates with some cooking oil just before grilling. Likewise, rubbing your grill grates with a raw onion is another tactic you can try. If you have a non-bristled grill brush, it's a good idea to scrape hot grill grates before and after you grill.

Another tactic is to rub the hot grates with the open side of a sliced (halved) onion. The idea here is that you're flavoring the grates while also adding moisture. This would also release organic compounds that break down stubborn grease and dirt. I didn't find it to be as effective as an exfoliant, but it smells wonderful.

A thorough cleaning every few months is the best way to enjoy a spotless grill. A little effort goes a long way.

These Amazon bestsellers make doing laundry a breeze

It's no secret that doing laundry isn't the most pleasant task. It's not always fun, but it's a necessary task. And when that's done, having plenty of clean-smelling clothes, towels, and linens can be awesome.

To make laundry more effective and efficient, we talked to experts about the most useful product types and compiled the top-selling laundry items on Amazon.

SKIP Our top tips | How We Picked the Best Selling Laundry Products on Amazon | Best Selling Laundry Detergents on Amazon | Best Selling Stain Removers on Amazon | Best Selling Laundry Accessories on Amazon | This makes doing laundry more fun

Our top picks:

Here's how we picked the best-selling lingerie products on Amazon

We have selected the following lingerie items based on their good reviews. In addition to reviews, we rely on expert advice to figure out what types of clothes are most useful when doing laundry. That's what they said.

  • Detergent Type: Tablets, liquids and powders are the three most common types of detergents on the market. The experts explained that many people prefer the capsules because of their convenience: just grab them and throw them in the washing machine. "I prefer liquids or powders, though," says Becky Rapinchuk , author of Simply Clean and founder of Clean Mama , a website that offers tips for cleaning at home. "These formulas allow you to adjust the amount used depending on what you're washing." Our experts agree it comes down to personal preference. That's why we've listed all the types you can choose from.
  • Stain-Removing Ingredients: Detergents and stain removers can be helpful in removing dirt and stains from dirty clothes. "Look for products that contain enzymes," says Rapinchuk. "These break down dirt and help it wash away your items. They also help eliminate odors. All detergents and stain removers listed below contain enzymes.
  • Useful accessories: In addition to detergents and stain removers, there are various laundry accessories that can make cleaning clothes easier. If you need to wash underwear or other delicates, you can prevent damage in the washing machine by placing them in a mesh laundry bag, says Patric Richardson, author of Laundry Love . Speaking of which, some items of clothing need to be air dried. Therefore, our experts recommend having a drying rack handy. When putting clothes in the dryer, consider using wool dryer balls instead of dryer sheets — they're eco-friendly, free from harsh chemicals, and leave your clothes super soft, says Rapinchuk. Below you will find mesh laundry bags, drying racks and premium wool drying balls.

The best selling detergents on Amazon

When it comes to laundry detergents, unit-dose, liquid, and powder formulas are common. Experts say it comes down to personal preference, but Rapinchuk points out that the latter two give you the benefit of being able to fine-tune the amount you use.

Tide Pods detergent

Amazon's best-selling laundry capsule, this option combines a concentrated laundry detergent, stain remover and color protectant in one small package. With an average of 4.8 stars from more than 132,000 reviews on Amazon, these capsules leave a floral scent on clothes, according to the brand. To use, add a capsule or two to the tub of your washing machine before adding clothes. Then simply operate the machine as usual.

win detergent

This Gain liquid laundry detergent has an average of 4.7 stars from over 94,000 reviews on Amazon. The formula contains enzymes that Rapinchuk says help remove dirt and odors. The bottle cap doubles as a measuring cup, with markings to show you where to pour a small, medium or large batch.

Molly's Suds Original Laundry Detergent

This best-selling powder detergent on Amazon has an average of 4.6 stars from over 13,000 reviews. The powder is free of artificial fragrances, which Rapinchuk says he prefers for sensitive skin. The powder is made from ingredients found in the earth, and one bag can hold up to 120 loads of laundry, depending on the brand.

The best selling stain remover on Amazon

Normal dirt can be removed with a detergent. However, if you spill something like coffee or ink and you have a stain, you need to use a stain remover.

Treatment of mouth stains

This spot remover spray has an average of 4.4 stars from over 43,000 reviews on Amazon. The formula contains citric acid and glycerin for stain removal and is non-toxic, making it a good choice for children's clothing, according to the brand. To apply, spray onto the stain, pat dry with a cloth or towel, then rinse (either by hand or in the washing machine).

OxiClean Odor Blasters stain and odor remover

Oxiclean is made with something called oxygen bleach, a stain remover that Richardson says Richardson says he prefers to bleach. Oxygen bleach removes dirt and stains without staining clothes. To use this product, which earns an average of 4.7 stars from more than 25,100 reviews on Amazon, soak stained items in a one part per gallon water mixture for up to six hours before putting them in the washing machine to clean . them. them.

Tide to Go stain remover

These Tide to Go stain remover pens have an average of 4.7 stars from over 35,800 reviews. They are intended for use on the go and fit perfectly in a bag or even a trouser pocket. According to Tide, you can use it for coffee, stains, spilled wine and more. To use this item, wipe some of the access liquid from the stain, then dab the pen on the stain to saturate it with cleaner. Leave it on for a few minutes before wiping away the stain remover.

The bestselling laundry accessory item on Amazon

Experts agree that in addition to detergents and stain removers, there are also some aids that can make the washing process easier.

Practical wool dryer balls for laundry

The best selling dryer ball on Amazon, these wool balls are designed to replace dryer sheets to soften clothes and reduce static. Rapinchuk also likes dryer balls because they're more environmentally friendly than dryer sheets, which are thrown away after just one use. You just toss these balls in the dryer with your wet clothes and they get to work. They can also reduce drying times, according to Handy, because they lift and separate garments as they bounce, allowing hot air to circulate better. You can buy these wool dryer balls in sets of 4 , 6 or 12 . There's no rule on how many to use at once, but the general guideline is the larger the load, the more you should throw in the dryer, and each ball is good for over 1,000 uses, depending on the brand. These wool dryer balls have an average of 4.6 stars from over 71,000 reviews on Amazon.

MuchFun Honeycomb Laundry Bags

"I think mesh laundry bags are essential for washing stockings, sweaters, and any delicate items like underwear or accessories," says Richardson, who notes that putting these items in a linen bag helps keep them closed from snagging on other items protect. This set, which has an average of 4.7 stars from over 24,500 reviews on Amazon, comes with three zippered mesh pockets, each measuring 12" x 16". That means the bags can hold items like bras, a sweater, and even sneakers, depending on the brand.

Collapsible drying rack from Amazon Basics

When washing your clothes, you should always follow the care instructions given on the labels. Some items may need to be air dried. In these cases, a hair dryer can be helpful. They fold up and allow clothes to be hung to allow air to circulate around the clothes and allow them to dry completely. This is the best selling drying rack on Amazon and has an average of 4.7 stars from more than 57,000 reviews. It can hold up to 32 pounds of clothing and has eleven bars for you to rest your clothing items on.

Expert tips to make laundry easier

While doing laundry is never high on your list of fun things to do, it doesn't have to be painful. To make this easier, experts suggest the following tips:

  • Prepare your supplies: "Everything is easier when you are prepared, even the clothes," says Richardson, who says having laundry supplies on hand can make the process easier. Keep detergent and stain remover next to the machine. This way you can easily add the soap and if you spot a stain when you throw something in the machine you can immediately grab the stain remover and treat it.
  • Do it often: It makes sense to avoid tasks you don't like, but it's not always your responsibility to do so. If you let the laundry pile up, it becomes overwhelming and takes longer. Rapinchuk recommends washing clothes as soon as you have enough for a full load, even if that means washing them daily. Eating it in small portions makes it easier to manage, he says.
  • Mix it all up: "Drop everyone in the family," says Rapinchuk. Ask them to throw all dirty clothes there. Then, when the basket is full, throw everything in the washing machine and use cold water, she says. The cold keeps things from bleeding and allows you to use one large load instead of separate loads for brilliant white laundry. The only exception to this rule: if you want to lighten your white clothes, or if you have new dark jeans or colorful clothes that can get washed out in the first few washes.

Important air conditioner maintenance tips you need to know - Plano, TX patch

When temperatures rise and you rely on your reliable air conditioner (AC) to create a comfortable indoor climate, it becomes your best companion. Like any faithful companion, your air conditioner needs care and vigilance to function at its best. Regular air conditioning maintenance is not only important for your well-being, but also to extend the life of your system and reduce energy consumption. Today, we'll walk you throughthe top air conditioner maintenance tips that every homeowner needs. Let's make sure your air conditioner performs at its best!

1. Replace or clean the air filter regularly

Think of the air filters in your air conditioner as your lungs. They play a crucial role in maintaining indoor air quality and efficient air circulation. Over time, these filters collect dust, dirt, and allergens, restricting airflow and increasing the performance of your air conditioner. Get in the habit of opting for an AC filter replacement service every one to three months, depending on usage. This simple step can dramatically improve the efficiency of your air conditioner and the quality of the air you breathe.

2. Keep the evaporator and condenser coils clean.

The evaporator and condenser coils are responsible for transferring heat through your air conditioner. When these coils are covered in dirt and grime, their ability to cool and heat efficiently is compromised. Check and clean these coils regularly, especially before the start of the cooling season. Gently remove residue and dirt with a soft brush or vacuum cleaner. This small effort can make a big difference in the performance of your air conditioner.

3. Check and clean the condensate drain line.

Your air conditioner's condensate drain line removes excess moisture that accumulates during the cooling process. Over time, this drain line can become clogged with algae, mold, and debris, leading to water leaks and potential damage to your system. Check the drain line for clogs and clean them with a mixture of bleach and water. This preventive measure ensures good drainage and prevents water-related problems.

4. Check and tighten the electrical connections.

In addition to affecting the performance of your air conditioner, faulty electrical connections pose a safety hazard. Regularly inspect electrical connections, including terminals, wires, and capacitors. Make sure they are tight and secure. If you notice any signs of wear or damage, it is best to contact a professional technician to fix the problem quickly.

5. Examine the thermostat.

Your thermostat is the control center of your air conditioning system. Make sure it's working properly to maintain the desired temperature. Test and calibrate your thermostat if necessary. Consider switching to a programmable thermostat, which allows you to set different temperatures at different times of the day, optimizing energy use.

6. Cut the vegetation around the outdoor unit.

If your air conditioner's outdoor unit is surrounded by bushes or overgrown plants, it can restrict airflow and reduce efficiency. Maintain a free space of at least 60 cm around the device. This ensures good air circulation and prevents dirt from entering the system.

7. Schedule professional annual maintenance

Although homeowners may do some maintenance, it's important to know your air conditioner's maintenance schedule each year. HVAC technicians are able to perform extensive checks, spot potential problems and make necessary repairs. Annual maintenance can extend the life of your air conditioner and keep it running smoothly during the warmer months.

8. Change fan belts if necessary.

If you hear squeaking noises or notice that your air conditioner fan is not working properly, it could be due to worn or damaged belts. Play these belts

a crucial role in the operation of the fan. Replace them when they show signs of wear to prevent further damage and ensure efficient airflow.

Regular air conditioning maintenance is key to a comfortable and efficient cooling experience. By following these important tips, you will not only improve the performance of your air conditioner, but you will also save on energy costs and avoid unexpected breakdowns. Remember that a well-maintained air conditioner not only keeps you cool, it also adds value to your home.

The joy of cleaning together: our family's Saturday routine – HipLatina

Hosted by

Hello mothers! My name is Dris and I'm a 38 year old rock star determined to conquer modern day motherhood and be the ultimate superhero for my kids! When I'm not working, you can see me taking photos, writing, filming, connecting with other moms and empowering them in this amazing adventure we call life.

Welcome to our happy home where our family thrives on teamwork and togetherness in everything we do. We believe that working and playing together makes life more enjoyable, even when it comes to tidying up! As parents, we strive to establish good habits and teach our children important team building skills that will greatly benefit them as they prepare for back to school. That's why our family motto is "Teamwork makes dreams come true". It's a guiding principle we apply to all aspects of our lives, including our special Saturday clean-ups.

Even when our children were small, they knew how important cleanliness is. As they got older, we decided to reserve Saturday as clean-up day. Since my husband and I work weekdays, the weekends were the perfect time for our family to get together and make cleaning efficient and enjoyable. Leadership skills from our different professions helped us streamline the process and make it fun.

Here are some valuable tips we've learned over time that have made our cleaning routine a fun bonding experience:

Tip #1: Print out a fun to-do list for each family member

To ensure everyone's participation, we have created a to-do list appropriate to each family member's age and ability. We then print out these colorful and engaging to-do lists for our kids to use as guides. Our kids enjoy checking off completed tasks and we make sure to add fun pictures and encouraging messages to motivate them even more. Cleaning can be exciting when it becomes a challenge! One of our favorite cleaning products is Clorox® Sanitizing Wipes because they help us clean up thousands of messes in life. Even if our kids don't use them, they definitely help us clean up the mess they make! My kids know we use them for everything and seem to think we have an endless supply of them. hahaha I always hear them say, "Oops, I made a mess, time for a Clorox wipe!" »

Tip #2: Create family rewards

We believe in recognizing and celebrating our successes, no matter how small. To keep motivation high, we created a jar of family rewards suggested by each member. These rewards can come in the form of a trip to the park, an afternoon by the pool, or a nice evening at the movies. At first we randomly selected rewards, but quickly found that rewarding ourselves with a family pizza night and a movie right after cleaning up had become a delicious tradition. Having something nice to look forward to after our cleaning session keeps everyone in the family busy and motivated.

What I like about this reward system is that it mimics the reward systems my kids have in their schools. As we prepare for back-to-school, it shows them that good deeds and behavior come with fun rewards.

Tip #3: Have fun learning to clean

Back to school

Our children love to help with the housework. Their enthusiasm is contagious when they bring our cleaning products together, like the trusted Clorox® disinfectant spray anddisinfectant wipes . It's heartwarming to see their curiosity sparked as they learn valuable life skills like time management, teamwork, problem solving and responsibility as part of our Clean Up Saturdays. Cleaning has become a wonderful adventure for them to grow and learn in, and the best part is that they transfer these skills into the real world, making the school day even more successful and fun! It's a win for the parents if you ask me!

Tip #4: Music + good vibes

children dance

Music is a universal joy that binds us together and we even enjoy it while cleaning. Each family member has the opportunity to share their favorite songs while playing a lively game of rock, paper, scissors. While there can sometimes be disappointment when one person's decision doesn't prevail, our children know the importance of taking turns. As soon as the music starts, we turn up the volume and energize each other as we enthusiastically throw ourselves into the cleaning chores.

Cleansing the Non-Negotiable: Three Tasks to Avoid Getting Overwhelmed | - Houses and gardens

Cleaning a house every day is certainly an ideal worth striving for, but even I can't achieve it, and I'm a clutter freak! Instead, I opted for three non-negotiable cleanings. These are the three things I always do to start the day and never go to bed unfinished.

While it might not sound like much, doing these three things a day is a great cleaning trick to avoid feeling overwhelmed with worrying about a tidy home and to keep the most basic chores from getting in the way pile on my to-do list.

These are the three tasks I set myself every day and how you can apply this goal to your own home.

non-negotiable cleaning

By setting a very realistic goal of getting just three things done each morning (or at least before lunch on a quiet day), I always get them done and set myself up for a big day.

1. Make my bed

I agree, making the bed isn't difficult, even if you dress it up like a 5 star hotel , but making the bed properly relieves the itch instantly. I must have a perfect house for Pinterest.

There are many reasons to make my bed every day , and I find that crossing this task off my to-do list before I get dressed each morning and keeping things tidy helps keep my home tidy are, this is also the case in my brain. It's the perfect way to avoid feeling overwhelmed for the rest of the day.

If I have the feeling that everything is falling into chaos, I can at least retire to my neat and tidy bedroom.

2. Tackle the "Doom Chair" in the bedroom

If I stay in the bedroom, I can also restore order by attacking my "Unfortunate Chair". We all probably have one in our rooms and it's the only place where worn but dirty clothes can fester.

To me it's a chair meant to help us get ready in the morning, but it ends up being covered with me and my partner's clothes or even the laundry basket I promised to empty last night.

To make room tidying easier and to make getting dressed easier every day, I make a habit of tidying everything up and putting away every article of clothing before I get dressed and go downstairs. This may mean putting back on an item of clothing I threw away last night, putting away clean clothes, or putting things in the washing machine that I know I won't be wearing for the next five days.

Although this place will eventually rebuild itself, the fact that it's a non-negotiable everyday morning means it never gets overwhelming, nothing gets lost, and the room is clean at least most of the time, and not just a few times.

3. Rinse the dishes

We're not lucky enough to have a dishwasher in our house, so washing up has to be done by hand (which can be a chore considering we cook everything from scratch every day). This usually results in dishes piling up in and around the sink throughout the day or even overnight when we are lazy or have late dinners.

When there are dishes on the counter in the morning, I have a habit of washing everything up before making breakfast. Hunger usually pushes me to get things done quickly and this makes sure I have everything I need to cook first so I don't have to start over and over again.

This is a great clean that is non-negotiable if you also want to cut kitchen cleaning time in half, and it can help you build habits into your routine to increase your productivity. For example, I find that once the dishes are washed, I can clean the kitchen countertops more easily while waiting for my breakfast to be cooked or prepared.

How non-negotiable things prevent immersion

Cleaning when you're feeling overwhelmed is among the toughest challenges we face when it comes to maintaining our properties, but I've found that doing at least three repetitive things a day keeps me on top of the mundane and keep it from adding more to a (let's be honest) never-ending to-do list.

Once I'm done with my non-negotiable things of the day, it's often easier to get on with other things because I give my brain an instant dose of satisfaction when my bedroom and kitchen are in order. . It's easier to eliminate the vacuum and quickly run around my house when I have a free moment and want to get away from my desk and move around, or even tidy up the living room a bit when I'm watching TV to help clean up , without having to worry about a mess later.

One of the best pieces of advice pros repeat is that starting small often makes the biggest impact, and these non-negotiable factors prove it.
