Best corded handheld vacuum cleaner
Our favorite corded vacuum and the best upright vacuum we've tested is the Shark POWERDETECT. This is the latest launch from Shark, the brand that has been a leader in the handheld vacuum cleaner market for some time.
POWERDETECT has smart features, such as sensors around the floor head that detect which surface you are vacuuming, how much dust there is and whether you are vacuuming near the edges. It can then automatically adjust its suction power to the optimal level, eliminating the need for the user to make guesses about the cleaning equation. This also means that this is one of the best vacuum cleaners for hardwood floors because you don't have to worry about putting too much strain on delicate wood panels.
Its 30-foot cord is longer than that of the average handheld vacuum (typically between 20 and 25 feet), giving you more freedom when cleaning around the house and minimizing the number of times you have to unplug. Its 12-inch ground head is also slightly larger than you'd normally expect, allowing you to cover more ground on the go.
When it comes to corded vacuum cleaners, it's hard to find one more powerful than this one. "The vacuum only needed one pass to vacuum up everything on the floor in each test," our expert tester James wrote in his review of this vacuum.
"The carpet in one room needed a thorough vacuuming as it was covered in a lot of cat hair (it was hot).
On one pass, James reported that Shark POWERDETECT "collected all visible hair (as well as debris near the box) from the carpet and filled the trash can with hair from a second cat." It highlighted its impeccable performance when vacuuming pet hair and carpets - two of the things we found most difficult to vacuum in our extensive testing.

Best corded canister vacuum cleaner

The price may be high ($1,200, it's the most expensive corded vacuum we've tested!), but the Miele C3 is a versatile vacuum with waterproof filtration and large 4.5-liter dust bags.
The spacious dust bags automatically close when removed and provide additional filtration via the vacuum cleaner's HEPA filter. Since this is a pet model, a special carbon filter (Active AirClean) is also used, which captures over 99.9% of lung-damaging and allergy-causing particles and neutralizes odors. This is an easy way to treat allergies at home and naturally eliminate unwanted odors from rooms or areas of your home where many pets frequent.
It has a 24-foot cord and the hose gives you a 29-foot cleaning radius. You can also remove the hose and tube from the back so you can use the crevice tool and turbo brush to clean smaller areas. The turbo brush works wonders on pet hair, especially on beds and upholstery.
Overall, the suction power is amazing. There's a reason this vacuum costs so much and is widely considered one of the best vacuums for pet hair . "It was quick and efficient and the lack of a rotating brush eliminated the tedious work of detangling the hair afterwards. All the hair was sucked directly into the bag and there was no smell of hot hair," wrote experienced vacuum tester Alex in his review.
"It worked great on hardwood floors, sliding across the surface and picking up everything easily without bumping," he added. On the linoleum, he found that the vacuum was too strong as it was difficult to move. However, this is not a problem as the performance of the vacuum can be adjusted in these cases.
The standard floor head was ineffective on carpets, but the Turboteq floor head cleaned exceptionally well and matched the performance we got with the best Dyson vacuums .
However, we should not ignore either the high cost or the recurring cost of replacing dust bags. If that's out of your budget, consider one of Miele's cheaper canister vacuums, like the Miele Classic C1 or the Miele Complete C2 .

Best budget corded vacuum cleaner

The Shark Rotator is now the cheapest Shark upright vacuum we've tested, thanks to its introduction many years ago. But its advanced age doesn't mean it's a bad vacuum cleaner. It performed excellently in our tests and is an ideal and affordable alternative to the best Shark vacuum cleaners .
Like the Shark POWERDETECT in this guide, the rotator can neutralize odors and has a lift-away module for easy cleaning. The difference, however, is that the Lift-Away is not powered and therefore requires slightly more effort to use, which is worth considering for those with limited mobility.
"In carpet mode, the vacuum has strong suction and its stiff brush removes a lot of dog hair, dirt and dust from my living room and dining room carpets," wrote Camryn Professional vacuum tester.
On hard floors, performance was even more impressive. "My dogs and partner often track down small rocks, clods of dirt and leaves indoors, and the vacuum cleaner had no problem picking up larger debris," he added. Its soft brush is also ideal for cleaning small pieces of cat litter without splashing them on the floor, a common problem with handheld vacuums.

The main advantage of a corded vacuum cleaner is its unlimited power. Cordless vacuum cleaners must extend battery life and limit power consumption. As such, it's rare to find one that can match the performance of a corded vacuum cleaner (check out the Dyson Gen5detect or Dyson V15 Detect if you're looking for that). ). ).
For this reason, corded vacuum cleaners are usually upright or canister vacuum cleaners . Both types are the vacuum cleaners preferred by professional cleaners due to their performance and versatility on all floors.

The vacuum cleaners are tested and tested in our test center and at home. In the test center we evaluate every vacuum cleaner on carpets, linoleum and parquet.
