It's no wonder. New Orleans, like any city, are rats and cockroaches that call upon their streets at home.
City leaders said the key unwanted creatures away to maintain hygiene. New Orleans native Joel Zetzmann he said out creatures at home often receives.
"I have no problems with cockroaches in my house. They are big," Zetzmann said.
He said he has a lot of rats seen in the French Quarter near his restaurant on foot.
"To minimize the problem, I have to spend $ 300 per month. And if we do not, it will be a problem. The rats were put in" Zetzmann said.
State Epidemiologist Dr. Raoult Ratard says infestation by rats and cockroaches underlying problems point.

Dr. Claudia Riegel, director of the mosquito, termite and rodent Regulatory Council of the city, New Orleans said used junk "BigBelly" to help keep the streets clean, and rats and cockroaches away.
"They have solar energy to be the trash and maintenance able to compress are not so often needed. But most importantly with rodents is that they meat are sitting on the floor. He said proactive about cleaning out trash and debris is the key.

Joe Martin, an entomologist with Terminix, the pest control company said keeps busy throughout the year.
"We get calls rodents and roaches per day. That is why we have been in business in New Orleans," Martin said.
He said the best home for rats remedy is to control a trap pressure with peanut butter or fruit as bait.
