Hygiene Awareness Week Tips Handwashing

Cincinnati - - According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), hand washing is the most effective way to prevent the spread of germs that cause infections and diseases. In honor of the awareness of National Handwashing Week (Dec. 6-12), Cintas Corporation (Nasdaq: CTAS) provides four handwashing tips for maintaining a healthy work environment and this cold season flu.

Awareness National Handwashing Week aims to "spread the word germs" by promoting the importance of hand washing to help promote good hand hygiene practices should note the following.:

  1. Know when to wash While it is important to wash your hands regularly is more important to join hands for activities such as toileting, before, during and touching after preparing food, to wash an animal, blowing your nose. Cough; or sneezing. It may also be useful to wash their hands after contact with items such as door handles, frequently touched a switch. 1

  4. Dry hands with paper towels. Studies of the Mayo Clinic (Minnesota) and the University of Westminster (London) shows that paper towels can raise air dryer to remove bacteria, unlike bacteria counts. Paper towels are also less likely to contaminate other washroom users also shown as air dryers spread bacteria from three to six feet of the unit. 4

Even if employees practice good hygiene, it is important to plan for additional facilities for cleaning and disinfecting during the winter months. Fight cold and flu season with suitable cleaning tools, cleaning chemicals and cleaning methods to keep the employees safe and healthy.

To complete a hand wash program, companies need to disinfect surfaces hardtop as door handles, elevator buttons, desk, keyboards and phones regularly. Since viruses and bacteria are estimated to remain on hard surfaces up to 18 hours, be sure to use a combination of detergents and disinfectants antimicrobial to eliminate and kill pathogens that develop in these areas.
