If your aluminum cookware has unsightly discoloration from repeated use, reach for this trusty can of baking soda. Simply mix it with a little water to form a paste and then gently rub the discolored areas with a sponge or cloth. Keep in mind that aluminum is a relatively soft metal that is prone to scratches even with gentle rubbing with baking soda. It is therefore advisable to first test this method on a small, inconspicuous area. For severe stains, you may need to repeat the process. For very stubborn stains , adding a little hydrogen peroxide to baking soda can loosen more dirt with less scrubbing.
After thoroughly cleaning the pan or baking sheet, rinse it well and then use a little soap and water to make sure all baking soda residue is removed. For little effort, you will be rewarded with shiny, almost new pans.
