The Danish company has just announced seven additions to its much-lauded 2M series, most notably seven new MM tanks specifically referred to as 2MR.
The Ortofon 2MR series carts feature a specially designed cartridge housing for turntables and tonearms, similar to Rega's, which meets their small form factor cartridge requirements. With its narrow cartridge case and standard half-inch mounting, a 2MR slide "fits perfectly without the need for modifications or forearm spacers and allows for quick and easy assembly with just two screws," according to the company.
The Ortofon 2MR cartridge's features include a powerful four-coil motor system with split pole pins to "minimize eddy current losses, improve channel balance and precision", Ortofon-exclusive premium rubber dampers, as well as high range and "full compatibility". with Ortofón. 2M series stylus pens.
Additionally, the 2MR cartridge's slim body "effectively eliminates the need for standoffs, washers, or modifications to turntables that require a small form factor cartridge."
