IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (KIFI) - The Old Butte soccer complex in Idaho Falls is looking tidy thanks to about 100 students from Taylorview and Eagle Rock Middle School.
They arrived at the soccer complex around 9 a.m. Friday, Oct. 25, to help with a cleanup project.
The Rotary Club of Idaho Falls donated more than a thousand dollars to start a small service project with the two universities.
The Rotary Club works specifically with both schools' Hope Squads to select a service project that will benefit the students.
The focus of the scholarship is on the "healing power of service."
They believe this service project will be a good tool for students in suicide prevention.
Steven Boorman, president-elect of the Rotary Club, said, "It gives the people who serve there a comprehensive opportunity to focus on the negative aspects of their lives," allowing them to see the positive. And we, this "Last year, the focus was on suicide prevention. Schools have what they call the "Hope Squad," which is their service to help kids avoid suicide. on this path to suicide."
This is the first healing power of ministry to be implemented.
