Storm damage trees, power goes out - some tips to help clean

DENVER - A sudden downpour of rain and heavy snowfall damaged trees and power lines to stop in the metropolitan area.

The Denver Museum of Nature and Science has tweeted that the museum is closed on Sunday because of a power outage due to the storm. The ARC thrift store on South Parker Road and East Avenue Cornell was also without power Sunday, but had to remain open.

Xcel Energy reported that about 58 000 100,000 customers experienced power outages in the most expected, although most were momentary outages with 99% of customers who have already their power for 17 hours on Sunday restored. The other approximately 1,000 customers should have power again at 21 am

Saturday night wet snow caused many trees under the pressure of sudden weight break.

When the snow storm damaged trees on your property, for the cleaning of debris and pruning trees on private land and trees in public law you are responsible, say the leaders of public works.

Public Works officials offered some tips on how to deal with the snow on the trees and broken branches as if you live in Denver deal.

  • Do not try to shake snow from a tree when a supply line runs through it.
  • If the tree free of supply lines, brush, remove as much snow as possible from the branches.
  • Do not attempt to mount the tree or use ladder to reach the upper limbs.
  • If a tree branch broken tree on a public road, or if you have general questions about the status of a tree about right, please call Denver Forestry Assistance forestry@denvergov.org .
  • For trees on private property, citizens can visit www.denvergov.org/forestry for a list of authorized maintenance companies and insured tree.
  • If the emergency removal of a fall to delete a road branch is required, the city may, when a call comes in the contract set to help, but the cost of the work will be paid by the owner of the property manager.
  • Denver Public Works Waste Management collects a limited number of industries as part of its collection, the refuse collection service for residents.
  • Branches must be greater than 4 inches in diameter and in lengths of 4 feet or less, grouped and attached cut and weigh more than 50 pounds.
  • The grouped branches, garbage collection can be planned with household garbage at the time configured.

The storm also brought the level of many rivers that water the Colorado, with flooding . strong enough to close some streets
