5 tips to save time in the salon

This post originally appeared on SolaSalonStudios.com

What would you do with a few extra hours in your day? Do you spend more time with your family? Squeeze in a few more dates? Relax? Whatever your answer, the nice thing about being the boss is that your time and schedule are completely in your hands. We're here to help you spend less time on busy work and more time doing what you love.

Follow these 5 tips to save time and have the security you need and deserve as a dynamic salon owner.

1. Keep it clean

It's easy to pile up, especially after a busy day in the salon. Keep your supplies organized throughout the day and store them regularly in small doses to avoid massive and time-consuming cleaning controls. The best way to avoid clutter is to organize products by purpose or frequency of use.

Best practices also include having your cleaning products on hand and brushing up excess hair after each client. Also, clean your chairs. At the end of each day, clean the floor and all counters so that you (and your customers) can walk into a nice and tidy living room tomorrow. Remember, a clean living room is a happy living room!

2. Optimize the storage of the tail pole

How many times a month do you go to the beauty store? How often have you had to get up early because you ran out of paint for a customer that day or had to be home late because you had to stop by the store after a long day on the way back?

3. Use an online reservation system

With an online reservation, your time-consuming manual appointment booking can be activated automatically. No more nightly text calls and voice messages.

4. Plan your social network

Eleanor Roosevelt said: "Desiring costs as much energy as planning."

So don't just wish for more time, make it happen. If you plan your time deliberately, you can literally add more hours to your day. Think about your social networks. If you spend an hour every day posting on Instagram, including finding a picture to post and racking your brains trying to figure out what to say in your caption, that's seven hours a week! Instead of taking a little time every day, save hours each week by creating bulk content and scheduling all of your posts in advance.

5. Stick to a schedule

As the salon owner, you have the power to control your schedule. Even if your schedule varies from week to week, sticking to a consistent schedule for some of your recurring tasks (like ordering your backbar or planning your social media) will save you hours in the long run. At the beginning of each month, set aside time for your daily, weekly, and monthly tasks. You can even do it once and come back on your calendar so you never have to worry about taking time for the essentials again. A consistent schedule, even for daily walks and lunch, will give you peace and quiet and hours back to your day.
