COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO) -- Midlands drivers may want to buckle up before hearing the latest report from GasBuddy tonight. These prices at the pump have increased by almost 15 cents in just two days. GasBuddy reports that in just 24 hours, average gasoline prices in Colombia have risen nearly 10 cents to $4.28 a gallon. That's up from 70 cents a gallon over a month ago.

If you're already planning your summer trips, GasBuddy has some tips to help you save. Experts recommend avoiding gas stations just off major highways and using apps to help you find the cheapest fuel near you. You also get discounts when you pay cash or join a loyalty program. Last but not least, keep track of the maintenance of your car. Cars have better gas mileage when their parts are well maintained. This includes checking tire pressure and cleaning or changing air filters before a long trip.

CNN - Drivers in at least one state are already paying $6 a gallon for gas, and other states will soon see the same price at their gas pumps before the summer is over. That's what the analysts at JP Morgan say. The average price of unleaded gasoline in California hit $6 a gallon for the first time Tuesday. Analysts are warning $6 or more could be the national average for August. AAA reports that the national gasoline average is already at an all-time high of $4.57 per gallon.
