Ask A Smoker: What's The Best Way To Clean A Gnarled Bong? - Denver West Word

Dear stoner, my bong is pretty messed up after last weekend. What is the easiest way to clean my window and how often should I do it?

dirty Peter

Dear Pete, There are tons of products to buy in big stores these days, but why pay $5 for a small bottle when a $.99 pitcher of alcohol and salt will work just as well to top off a smelly binge or to cure a rotten pipe? It's as simple as filling your room with a few tablespoons of salt, pouring in half a cup of alcohol and stirring it all up. Some tips for a more pleasant cleaning experience:

- Get a box of disposable latex gloves. Nobody likes the smell of old bong resin.

- First run hot water through the pipes for a minute or two to soften the resin. If the piece is small, get bacon tongs so you don't burn yourself.

- Plastic swabs are great for those tight spots. Paper swabs tend to break, so avoid them.

- If you have trouble with parts like bowls and slides, soak them in alcohol in an old jar overnight. Give them another warm water bath in the morning and then try the salt alcohol shake.

- You can remove limescale stains in your pipe with lemon juice squeezed into the bong and then sprayed with some hot water. Give it a quick rinse with cold water one last time and your piece will shine.

- Clean your pipes regularly. It's far easier to spend five minutes removing a thin layer of resin than it is to spend half an hour or more cleaning up months of tar and stickiness. Basically you should up your game and not be a rude dirty smoker that no one wants to smoke with because you have dirty pipes.

Dear Stoner , A friend recently told me that marijuana is safer than water. what is he talking about

jump tickle

Dear Skip, your boyfriend isn't just stoned and talkative. Well, it could be, but you're right about that. Dilutional hyponatremia, or water intoxication, occurs when a person drinks too much water. Basically, if you drink way more than your body can excrete, you run the risk of brain cells swelling and fluid in your head rupturing. It's rare, but it does happen, unlike marijuana overdoses, which are about as common as a flying green unicorn crying hash oil.
