Tips to avoid the symptoms of the deadly Hantavirus point

A grieving mother looking people about the rare but deadly hantavirus to educate, as health officials in Saskatchewan issued its annual warning about the disease.

Hantavirus, which killed 26 years Robyn Young in June 2014 is transmitted through inhalation of contaminated particles deer mouse droppings, urine and saliva.

Hantavirus symptoms are flu-like in nature, are:

  • Fever.
  • Muscle aches.
  • To cough.
  • A headache.
  • Nausea.
  • Vomit.
  • Difficulty breathing.
  • Apnea.

Health officials say that people should see a doctor if the symptoms 05:59 weeks exposure to rodent droppings appear.

The Ministry of Health has a number of tips when rodent invested areas cleaning, including:

  • Make sure that the area well ventilated and aerate at least 30 minutes before cleaning.
  • Use wear a damp mop and rubber gloves or plastic.

  • Avoid dust formation, sweep and vacuum the areas.
  • Steam clean, shampoo or spray furniture with soap, disinfectant or a mixture of bleach and water.
  • Wash clothes and bedding in hot water and soap.

It has been since 1994 30 cases of hantavirus pulmonary syndrome in Saskatchewan, 10 of which resulted in the death.
