Purge at home as part of everyday school life

The summer holidays are coming to an end, the beginning of the school year is taking over the house and the surrounding disturbance is an activity that the whole family can organize during the transition.

"It's easy to prepare for the start of the school year when you come to them as a team," says Mike Thorne, president of Just Junk. "Adherence to a clear timetable and the opportunity for children to participate directly in the cleaning process is the key to a successful organization by the end of the summer."

Thorne offers the following tips for the whole family to prepare for the return to school:

1. Choose simple and age-appropriate tasks

Children can start small tasks on a regular basis when they are little. You will not leave the bin at short notice, but you will understand how your home is set up and that some snacks and other items come out of the bin when they are used. Older children can perform tasks such as sweeping, dustbin removal, dust, etc. Make sure that the tasks that children can do are well-allocated and have clear goals so that the most impatient children can be found.

2. Follow the schedule

You do not want to overwork your family with a single surface cleaning. Keep track of what should be done when and by whom, and consult your children at this stage. Involving children in the planning process and helping to develop a defined cleaning plan will result in smoother cleaning and a better sense of achievement.

3. Offer rewards

Create a sense of achievement for the whole family with small rewards for each task, whether you spend time in front of a screen, spending time outdoors, or a small family break for a gift between two tasks.

4. Adapt the homework to your children.

Adapting tasks to their children's preferences does the job and makes them feel heard, creating an environment conducive to safekeeping. Pay attention to their strengths and how they can improve the process because we are still in the summer and nobody really wants to spend the rest on cleaning.

5. Store the batteries in a timely manner

Prepare your own space where you can place objects that need to be donated or collected by a spam service that does not enter your area. This also applies to the storage of important school items during the summer holidays. Keep important items in good condition and you will not have to buy them next year after school. Keep a good list of what you need to buy for a year, update them, and you'll rarely be surprised by the list of teachers' supplies.
