"It has never been easier to wash clothes," said Brian Sansoni, senior vice president of communications at ACI. "Current tissue care products have been innovatively developed to handle virtually any laundry-related task."

care instructions

Many Americans look at product labels to learn how to store their clothes, but not always:

  • 42% sometimes read the instructions
  • 23% seldom or never read the instructions.

When it comes to taking care of your clothes, do not guess. Read the product labels for best results. Wash after washing. If you turn your head when looking at the labels, you can use the symbols based on the ACI Manual for clothing care symbols decipher.

Main wash temperatures.

More and more Americans use cold water to determine their temperature: 52% use cold water for at least half of the time for the main wash. 32 percent tend to use hot water, and only 14 percent tend to use hot water.

This is good because 90% of the energy consumed by a washing machine is used to heat water. A cold wash saves energy. Cold water also protects clothing from discoloration, constriction or bleeding, and prevents certain stains such as make-up and blood from becoming permanently visible.

Thanks to advances in detergent technology, there are stain removal enzymes that work best in cold water. And by washing your laundry in larger cold amounts, you can reduce your workload.
