Election official in New Jersey is accused of paying workers to clean her mother's attic

An election official from Atlantic County was accused of working overtime to earn money and paying district workers to clean his mother's attic.

Stratford-born Michael Gibbons, 33, who served as deputy chief of Canada's Atlantic Election Commissioner for Canada, is accused of incorrectly working an employee's working time card with false overtime, giving the employee an award for additional compensation

According to the prosecutor, he then twice demanded the employee's money.

He is also accused of having publicly paid two employees to clean his mother's attic.

The alleged crimes took place in March 2017 and the charges against him were made in 2018 . He was suspended without pay last January.

Gibbons was charged this year with two cases of third-degree theft by deception, a fourth-degree case of deception, three cases of second-degree misconduct, and second-order behavior. Class in the second grade.
