The pop-up "Friends" is a 25th anniversary fraud

The new exhibition "Friends" will not be there for you.

This buzzing " limited time " experience in Soho, celebrating the 25th anniversary of the successful series since 1994, offers fans the chance to see iconic accessories, costumes and program times. in Central Perk. "Put a turkey on your head, look through the purple door of Rachel and Monica, relax in Chandler's and Joey's lounge chair after playing table football or helping Ross at the notorious Divan Pivot." says the press release.

The only problem? Is wrong

The iconic sofa, the purple door and the turkey are replicas of the real accessories that have appeared in the classic NBC sitcom. There's been a part of the show with a set of wigs with Rachel's modern hairstyles over the years, but Jennifer Aniston never wore the wigs. It's just supposed to show you how "Rachel" was cut, in case you forgot. But if you're fanatical enough to get this pop-up, you probably do not have it.

At the end of the day, you pay nearly $ 30 to see an exhibition of wigs that has nothing to do with the program, and that summarizes all these "experiences" of the fans.

Sure, you are not 100% wrong. The pop-up window features a variety of real costumes and accessories featured on the show, such as Dr. Drake Ramoray and Monica's Wedding Invitation (Courteney Cox) and Chandler.

And there are some funny wall graphics that depict the intricate network of romantic quotes from the characters, and Monica's cleaning tips are still tense. The scenes of the show are projected onto the walls, followed by catchy tones of "I'll be there for you" on your way. You can pose for photos with the famous "Pivot Scene" or the turkey scene in your head or buy overpriced "Friends" souvenirs in your shop.

Compare this with similar programs in "Mad Men" or "The Wonderful Mrs. Maisel" or "Downton Abbey". The exhibition "Mad Men" , which lasted six months in the Animated Image Museum in 2015, had the actual stage on Don Draper's desk, not a replica.

The exhibition "Downton Abbey" showed the real Crawley Dining Room Game. The "Maisel" exhibition allowed fans to sit under a vintage hairdryer at the Steiner Resort Beauty Salon Box.

Meanwhile, in the "Friends" exhibition, you can sit on an orange couch in an environment that looks like Central Perk, but that's not the reality.

If you want to include thematic photos of "friends" for your Instagram account, you'll be pleased with this exhibit. This is consistent with the growing trend of pop-ups that exist only for social networks.

But if you want to see the real sofa with friends in Central Perk, the real La Z-Boy chairs and the table football tables in Joey's and Chandler's apartment, or the truly iconic purple door, think of this "the" Er is disappointed. "

The Friends pop-up window in NYC will be open from 7th September to 6th October. Opening hours: every day from 10 to 22 o'clock. Tickets cost $ 29.50. Tickets can be bought at Friends25popup.com .
