Orphaned kittens need your help

When he volunteered last Saturday to help with some cat adoption chores at the Tehama County Animal Care Center (TCACC), it was clear that kitten season was definitely on. From now until late summer, many hungry and screaming kittens come to the center every day for attention. Many will arrive without a mother and unfortunately it is difficult to provide the level of care they need in a public animal shelter.

Please note that the facility's ability to accept orphaned kittens is often related to the number of volunteer caregivers as, like most humanitarian organizations, it does not have enough staff to meet all of these needs. Children. Many are too young to be adopted. Skin. Also, be aware that litters can range from four to seven kittens (or more) during the kitten season. As you can imagine, with so many nursing kittens, the need for food is enormous. Although they have no special requirements, these adolescents do not have a fully developed immune system and there is an increased risk of getting seriously ill due to the endless influx of other animals. As hard as everyone tries, some will die. But these little lives can be saved. And for those of you who are talking about saving lives and wondering what can be done, now is the perfect opportunity to take action and do something.

By becoming a kitten hero and opening your heart and home to these little munchkins, the Tehama County Animal Care Center can expand your foster walls and improve your ability to rescue. Advocacy is an amazing way to save animals and it is very easy for you to be part of the wonderful hospitality volunteer team that I am proud to be a member of. The team and the shelter depend on cat lovers like you to help these vulnerable babies who no longer have their mothers to care for them. As a Kitten Foster Hero, you have the flexibility to care for her in your own home, while TCACC provides the food, medication (if necessary), supplies, and support you need to become a successful foster family.

Becoming a nursing home not only helps the shelter, it can be a great opportunity for you too. You may be considering adopting but are not sure if a kitten is right for you. Perhaps your lifestyle is such that you cannot have a "permanent" pet.

Maybe you just want to feel the immense joy of having kittens over and over again. Whatever the reason, I think you will find that nurturing kittens is not only one of the most rewarding experiences, but it also meets some personal needs. You will be amazed at how much you learn and how rewarding it is to watch the kittens grow in your care.

As the "Kitten Raising Hero" you are responsible for feeding, cleaning, socializing and cuddling your kittens. In some cases, you may need to bottle feed, give medication, or take the kittens to the vet. In terms of space, it doesn't take up much. Depending on the age of the kittens, you can look after them for one to eight weeks. Finally, if you don't adopt, it will be time to say goodbye and send her off to a new life. But remember, it is up to you to have this opportunity for a better future.

TCACC would like you to imagine the center as your "partner" and pursue the same goals as you, in order to care for the animal as best as possible and to find its perfect home forever. To achieve these goals, you can choose which pets to adopt based on your lifestyle, experience, and level of comfort. They will always listen to your questions as help is as close as a phone call or email. You will be honest in your expectations. They provide guidelines and training materials to assist you in your rescue efforts. Additionally, there are seasoned hospitality volunteers who are ready and more than willing to be a support system for you, offering helpful advice, tips and sharing their experiences. The goal of all is for you to be successful because when you are successful and I cannot say enough about it, lives will be saved.
