Tips to clean up junk files and keep your phone running smoothly.

It's true that a lot of young people who use the phone still have a slow, slow, or choppy device. To solve this problem, try the following 10 methods to increase the performance of your device, which apply to both Android and iPhone.

1. Restart your device

While it may seem trivial, it is one of the easiest and most effective ways to slowly "revive" a frozen device. Restarting not only restarts all system processes, but also removes many temporary files, takes up storage space and slows down the smartphone.

Typically, to restart, all you have to do is hold down the power button until a menu appears and then select the appropriate item. If that doesn't work, you can turn the plugin off and on again; the effect will be the same.

2. Install available updates

With every firmware update, manufacturers fix errors and improve smartphone performance. You should therefore always install the latest available software versions. The only exception are very old devices, which may boot more slowly due to poor packaging material with newer firmware.

On the iPhone, go to Settings -> General -> System Update to check. On an Android smartphone: Settings → System → System update. Wait for it to finish checking for available updates and then install them by clicking the appropriate button.

3. Empty the cache

Another way to delete temporary files and junk files is to clear the system cache. Since there is no separate function for this on iOS, this happens when the device is restarted. However, on Android, you can clean up by going to Settings → Storage, then selecting Internal Storage and clicking the Free Up Space button.

It is best not to use third party cleaners and enrichers as they do more harm than good. The only recommendation for Android is the official Google Files app. Under the Cleanup tab, it can be used to remove temporary files that have accumulated and are taking up space and potentially slowing down your smartphone.

4. Uninstall unnecessary applications and their data.

A lack of free space in internal storage slows down file access and consequently reduces device performance. Full memory is not recommended: at least 10% or even better 20-25%.

Over time, applications accumulate data and can take up a lot of space. To remove it, go to Settings -> Storage -> More apps on Android or Settings -> General -> Storage on iOS. Then scroll through the programs that are taking up the most space and click "Erase Data". If the app doesn't have a clean option, you'll need to uninstall and reinstall it.

To free up space, you can also remove unused programs, including pre-installed ones.

5. Install the compressed versions of the applications.

If the problem of saving space is very serious, a reasonable solution is to get rid of the usual browsers, instant messengers and social media applications and install the lite versions, which is called the lite version. You can find it on Google Play and the App Store by adding lite to the name of the app.

They have an ascetic user interface and sometimes a more modest range of features. But it takes up a lot less space and works faster than ever before.

6. Move apps and data to your storage card

The internal memory has a faster write speed, so all applications are installed there by default. In fact, it is better to keep important and frequently used programs in the built-in memory, while the rest of the programs can be moved to the SD card to save space.

To do this, go to "Settings" → "Applications", open the desired program and click the "Transfer" button. Unfortunately, not all smartphones offer this function, read more about it in a separate article.

Since iPhone doesn't support memory cards, the above method only applies to Android devices.

7. Delete unnecessary content

If your smartphone memory is still full after performing all of the above, it is time to check photos, videos, music, and other media. All unnecessary things can be removed instantly and valuable files can be uploaded to cloud storage or copied to a computer.

8. Reduce the number of widgets

Like other plugins, devices can overload and slow down the system. This is particularly noticeable with cheap, old devices. There is only one way out: remove all elements that are not of particular importance, leaving only the essential elements.

To remove it, simply place your finger on the widget and drag it to the cross that appears or click the minus symbol.

9. Disable the user interface animations and other effects.

Switching between desktops and displaying other surface effects puts such a strain on the processor that older or not faster smartphones can become considerably slower. Turning these options off can improve performance.

On the iPhone, go to Settings → Accessibility, then in the Screen size and text section, enable the Reduce transparency option, and in the Motion section, enable the Reduce motion option.

On Android devices, you need to enable developer mode first. Then find the "Display" section in the "Settings" → "System" → "For developers" menu and set the "No animation" parameter for the "Window animations", "Transition animations" and "Animation duration" options. .

10. Perform a factory reset

As a last resort, a more thorough and efficient cleaning method can be used. When restarting, the smartphone is reset to the factory settings, its contents and all accumulated remains are removed.

To reset the iPhone, go to Settings -> General -> Reset -> Erase Contents and Settings and confirm the action. On Android, go to Settings → System → Factory Reset, then select Erase All Data and click the Reset Phone Settings button to confirm.

After implementing the above 10 standard methods, I am confident that your smartphone will run stronger and faster. Much luck!
