Proper maintenance reveals a secret to maintaining a tidy home

So how often should you clean the toilet, wash the mats and clean the light bulbs? Experts point out those tasks that have to be done daily that can be saved once a year

From cleaning the oven to washing the shower, many household chores are not recommended.

Now experts have prepared a checklist that will help us keep our cleanliness under control without having to wear rubber gloves armed with a bleach gun for hours after the problem has accumulated.

A team from the Good Housekeeping Institute identified the work that really needs to be done every day and the others, which can last up to six months or even a year.

The guide was created from an almanac of recommendations and cleaning recommendations that have been gathered over the decades.

There is a job that needs to be done every day, often to prevent germs from spreading and to keep the space clean.

This includes washing dirty dishes, cleaning the toilet bowl, making beds and putting dirty laundry in the laundry basket.

The jobs that need to be done once a week include vacuuming, dusting surfaces, washing towels, and cleaning the bathroom, including toothbrush cups.

The list includes once a month washing windows, vacuuming under furniture, cleaning blinds, and even washing the doormat.

In addition, the mattress can be used every three to six months, the blankets for dry cleaning, the inside of the refrigerator and the inside and outside of the oven, according to the institute.

And finally, once a year, which is darker but just as important, includes cleaning the gutters, sweeping the fireplace and cleaning the light bulbs.

A spokesman said, "We always ask our cleaning experts how often we need to clean things from beds and curtains to stoves and bathrooms.

"To be honest, housework seems to be an endless task and nobody wants to do too much. That's why we have created a guideline on what should be cleaned and when.

Although the advice is useful, you run the risk of ignoring many young people who are used to being followed by parents who are waiting for their hands and feet.

At the same time, many families, including those with modest incomes, rely on the help of a cleaner. And there is a booming market for cleaning robots.

A study published by Mintel retail analysts last year found that the average household cleaning time decreased by 32 minutes compared to 2014.

He said the average time per week increased from 4 hours 39 minutes in 2014 to 4 hours 7 minutes in 2016.

Mintel's study found that cleaning the oven is the job people hate most.

Around 67 percent describe it as one of the three main dislikes, as does cleaning toilets (47 percent) and windows (41 percent).

Although men report doing more housework, women do most of the work in the kitchen and bathroom.

The average cleaning time for a woman was 90 minutes more per week at 4 hours and 51 minutes.

Richard Hopping, a brand and household analyst at Mintel, said: "The average time the British claim to spend cleaning their house each week has decreased by half an hour in recent years.

Mintel discovered that almost two in three people (62%) in the nation said they were cleaned when they had the time. Only every third person has a schedule.

Just over four in ten (42%) say their goal is to get the job done as quickly as possible.

Hopping said, "The busy life of today's consumers often complicates cleaning routines, which means that the majority are clean when they have the time instead of planning ahead."
