Spring is here, whether the weather is good or not (March 20 is this year's spring equinox).
And like old clothes and jewelry, you're likely to be overwhelmed by a pop culture that you really don't want or need anymore. Here are five simple steps to clean this part of your life so you're fresh and ready for everything spring brings.
1. Clean your TV (literally)

Do you know that you are still recording programs that you have not seen and wanted to see, but every time you sit down it is too difficult or something else is more interesting or did you kill your favorite character? It's time to say goodbye.
There is too much television to watch a program you are not enjoying and there is not enough space on the DVR to do so. Is Westworld too complicated? Discard Bored by Negan in The Walking Dead? Delete Doesn't the modern family make you laugh anymore? Make room for a sitcom (we recommend Fresh off the Boat or Speechless if you like ABC's family comedy). After Arrow killed a main character and changed the format last season, I pulled him out of my rotation, making room for new CW shows like Riverdale, a strange and wonderful one.
2. Do the same with books, movies, and music.

If you've been stuck in Alexander Hamilton's biography for more than a few months, it may be time to admit defeat (thanks for trying). If you never finish reading the book you are reading, you may not have it on your shelf or place on your phone / tablet / Kindle. If you really don't like an album, why should you lose the download space? Do you have hundreds of DVDs on your shelf? Will you ever see her again It's time to take stock and get rid of what you really don't want. For example, I keep my beautiful extended editions of The Lord of the Rings, but it might be time to get rid of this used DVD with 27 dresses.
3. Unsubscribe

All of these boxes of clothes and makeup, and food and wine subscriptions seemed really fun when you first signed up, but now you can have a lot of little lipsticks that you never use. If you don't really have any of this, it's time to say goodbye to all the patterns and cardboard boxes that are adding up. I left the subscription to Slide's clothing box after returning two boxes without having saved a single item.
You can also subscribe to TV, music and movies. There are currently so many TV streaming options that buying them can be more expensive than a regular cable. So if you see only one or none at all on Netflix or Hulu or Amazon or HBO Now, don't be afraid to do without it. You can find something else that you like a lot more. There are probably services with great movies and televisions you haven't heard of, like Take My Wife by Carmen Esposito in Seeso.
4. Skip the new media that are not worth your time

The fact that you liked some Marvel movies or TV shows doesn't mean you have to watch everything. For example, Iron Fist, which arrived on Netflix on Friday, has received negative reviews, even from Brian Truitt of USA TODAY. There are many other top quality superhero shows (like Legion or Supergirl).
Likewise, Divide, a panorama by Ed Sheeran, doesn't have to be on your download list (don't worry, Lorde's new album Melodrama will be released in June). You can save your money on a movie that doesn't ... It's Belko Panoramic Experiment or The Shack (maybe you can finally see Moonlight if needed).
5. Clean your current closet
In the last week of fashion in New York, Milan, Paris and more, there are many lessons you can learn about fashion 2017. When it comes to athletics, you should take off your old leggings. Colorful black to make room for exciting sweatpants (see DKNY inspiration). And if you are looking for couture for a cheap price this spring, you shouldn't sleep. See some of the looks below.
