Living Space: Quick and Effective Cleaning Tips for Your Tip Purse - Red Deer Advocate

Put these ideas in your bag of tricks and you will have your home spotless in no time.

Clean your closets with your vacuum cleaner.

Use your vacuum cleaner's brush to vacuum up the dust and crumbs inside. Outside, focus on the area around the hardware store with a cloth dampened with warm water and Murphy oil soap.

Use your dishwasher to clean lights.

Provide removable glass parts, e.g. B. domes, in the dishwasher. Also, go through a drying cycle to avoid staining.

Use a pillow case to clean a ceiling fan.

Slide a pillowcase over the blades of the ceiling fan, one at a time, and then wipe it dry. The dust falls on the pillowcase, not the furniture or the floor.

Wear old socks to clean the blinds.

Take an old sock in one hand and sprinkle it with water. Grab each slat panel and slide your sock-covered hand from one end to the other, dusting both sides of the bar at the same time.

Use a paint roller to clean the popcorn covers.

Roll a wet paint roller over the ceiling to collect dust and cobwebs without breaking any part of the ceiling like a sweeper would.

Clean stains with baby wipes.

Baby wipes are surprisingly effective because they are very low in moisture, contain mild detergents, and dry quickly. Don't confuse them with cleaning wipes, which may contain bleach or other harmful chemicals.

Use tennis balls to wash the quilts.

You can machine wash most comforters in front loaders as long as the comforter only fills half of the machine. Dab with tennis balls to avoid padding in a corner.

Clean blinds faster by not taking them apart.

Instead of removing the curtains, just shake them to remove the dust. Then vacuum up and down with the upholstery.

Let your children clean your mattress.

Let your kids jump on the bed to dust off the interior. Next, vacuum the top of the mattress. (If your vacuum cleaner has a stir bar, turn the bar off first.)

Use lemon oil and vinegar for shiny woodwork.

To remove dust and grime from your joinery and keep it looking shiny, clean it with a mixture of one part lemon oil and one part white wine vinegar.

Clean your dishwasher with little effort.

Put 1 cup of baking soda on the bottom of your empty dishwasher and let it sit overnight. Run the warmest cycle possible and use vinegar instead of dish soap to clean and deodorize your dishwasher. Remember to remove the dirt from the filter.

Remove hard water marks as you walk away.

However, first soak paper towels in undiluted vinegar and place them over the debris. Leave on overnight, then scrub and rinse.

Clean faster with these three things:

  • A 15-meter, 16-gauge extension cord allows you to plug your vacuum cleaner into a central location, so you can clean an entire level without looking for another outlet.
  • A microfiber mop with an extension for quickly and easily removing dust from ceilings and walls. When you're done, just remove the cover and throw it in the washing machine.
  • A double-sided squeegee is the best tool for cleaning windows. Dip it in the cleaning solution of your choice and work in a tight S-pattern from top to bottom.
