NCDOT Offers Daylight Saving Time Road Safety Tips | Charlotte Patch, North Carolina

NORTH CAROLINA -- Daylight saving time begins at 2 a.m. on March 13, and drivers should be well-rested and ready to drive safely.

To account for jet lag, people planning to drive on Sundays should make sure they go to bed an hour earlier than normal.

Drivers should also be prepared for morning commutes to get darker as the sun rises and sets later in the day. Follow these important tips to stay safe when driving in the dark:

  • Make sure your vehicle's exterior and interior lights are working properly.
  • Alternative stay for cyclists and pedestrians.
  • Keep your windshield clean to improve visibility.
  • Get plenty of rest and never drive drowsy.
