BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2022 MetroDesk Media, LLC) -- A man found with a gunshot wound on Glades Road Friday noon is identified by acquaintances as Vladimir Oviedo, 52, of Hollywood, Florida .

BocaNewsNow.com obtained the name shortly after the shooting but withheld the victim's identity while it investigated by the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office. Detectives asked BocaNewsNow.com to withhold Oviedo's name for investigative purposes on Saturday. Whilst we have complied with the request for 24 hours, we have informed PBSO that we plan to release the name at 4pm on Sunday unless there is information to suggest that this could compromise the safety of would endanger someone. This information was not provided. Oviedo's family invoked "Marsy's law," which prevents law enforcement from revealing the victim's name, according to police. This does not prevent the media from obtaining a victim's identity from other sources.

BocaNewsNow.com has learned that Oviedo was last seen around 12:30pm Friday in the Boca West community driving a food truck at a construction site. Records verified by BocaNewsNow.com show that Oviedo owns the 2010 Chevy Silverado, which he converted into a food truck and ended up crashing in the median near 7772 Glades Road. The truck is towed from the scene of the accident. Someone who has seen Oviedo in Boca Oeste said they appear to be in a good mood.

"He arrives (at the location) around noon," the source said. He comes every day at lunchtime.

But shortly after his departure, Oviedo was shot and wounded. He drove his Chevy Silverado work truck into a median on Glades near the turnpike. He got out of the vehicle and collapsed. Horrified passers-by called the police. He was taken to Delray Medical Center and operated on immediately. His condition was unclear as of Sunday afternoon. We know the investigation is being conducted by PBSO Homicide Detectives.

Oviedo's truck didn't have a bullet hole. It is unknown where he was shot between Boca West and 7772 Glades Road. The police keep asking for information. Anyone with information is encouraged to call PBSO at 561-688-3000, CrimeStoppers at 800-458-TIPS, or online at CrimeStoppersPBC.com.

Oviedo had a security guard license that expired in 2005, according to records verified by BocaNewsNow.com. He had a few incidents with law enforcement in South Florida in 2010, but has no significant recent record. He was arrested by police last year for driving a vehicle with no lights on at night in Monroe County.

"A friend of mine and I were having lunch and we were wondering why we heard ambulance sirens for so long between 12:30 p.m. and 1 p.m.," said a worker at the site. "After 2 p.m. we heard people talking about it. We were surprised to find out.
