Pretreat stains

When it comes to deodorant stains that have been on your clothes all day (or all week), pretreat them first, and The Laundress sells the perfect products to help you with that.

"If you are treating cotton, linen, or hard-wearing plastics, apply La Laundress Stain Solution directly to the area and work the fabric with your finger or the Laundress Stain Brush . Then wash it as you normally would, " says Whiting.

According to Boyd, a stain that is very hard may require an extra step. You should "pretreat the object and soak it in a hot water bath for up to 30 minutes" and for more performance "place the affected area under the tap under maximum pressure and let the water remove the stain". . You can repeat this step if necessary and then wash as usual.

Consider the material

"Pre-treat and soak with wool and cashmere as usual, but use warm water," says Whiting. Then wash your hands and rinse them out.

Don't forget the white shirt tips

We also spoke to Marilee Nelson, co-founder of the non-toxic Branch Basics cleaning brand, which gave us a solution to - gah - the yellow stains that damage the white shirts . Make a mixture of half a cup of hydrogen peroxide, two tablespoons of baking soda, a teaspoon of cleaning concentrate, and a quarter cup of water. After applying the mixture to your clothes and shaking it, let it sit for a few hours before throwing it in the laundry.

Do not use water to quickly remove stains

When you walk out the door, a deodorant sponge that works without water and is small enough to stay in your pocket when you see a stain during the day. Another way, Boyd says, "is to take the inner fabric off the top and rub the marked area on the outside to remove dirt from the outside in. It works great in a hurry!"

In other words, the same material as your clothes will help remove white deodorant stains without water. Who knows ?!

Change your deodorant

It is the aluminum in your deodorant that, when mixed with the bacterial microbiome in your armpits, causes yellowing. Whiting and Boyd recommend using clear deodorant options and those without this ingredient as a natural formula to completely avoid this problem.
