White Vinegar Cleaning Tips: Is Vinegar a Disinfectant? Is the coronavirus killing?

White vinegar is made up of 5 to 10 percent acetic acid and about 90 to 95 percent water. Acetic acid is great at dissolving dirt, debris, and grime ... but is it a disinfectant and can it kill the coronavirus?

Is vinegar a disinfectant?

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has not registered vinegar as a disinfectant because it cannot kill all bacteria.

White vinegar can kill certain bacteria such as E. coli, Salmonella, and Listeria monocytogenes.

There are many household disinfectants you can buy in stores that kill 99.9% of germs. Instead, use them to clean surfaces around the house.

Tips for cleaning white vinegar

While white vinegar cannot kill viruses or many types of bacteria, it is still an effective cleaner.

Here are six things Lynsey Queen of Clean recommends that you cleanse with distilled white vinegar.

Windows and mirrors

Lynsey recommends cleaning the windows with vinegar.

She said, "I hold a spray bottle half full of vinegar and half full of water, then I wipe the windows and mirrors with a lint-free cloth."

Sink

White vinegar can remove odors and unlock the sink.

Lynsey said, "With white wine vinegar, baking soda can remove those unpleasant smells from the sink and keep your sink free of lint and dirt.

"This should be taken into account in your monthly cleaning schedule."

limestone

Lime and hard water are very difficult to remove, but white vinegar will do.

Lynsey said, "Dip the shower heads in a bag of white vinegar and spray the shower doors, drains and taps clean."

You can also use white vinegar to descale your kettle.

Lynsey said, "Just fill the kettle with half the water and half the white wine vinegar and let it steep for 30 minutes.

"When the time is up, bring the kettle to a boil, empty it, and rinse it well.

"This keeps lime in check and eliminates the need for aggressive chemicals.

"You can also try this trick on your coffee machine!"

Carpet stains

We all spill the weird drink or drop messy food on the carpet and it's almost impossible to remove the stains.

Lynsey said, "White wine vinegar can really help remove these unwanted stains.

"Just mix water and white wine vinegar and put it in a spray bottle.

"Spray the marked area, let it rest for a good five minutes, and then dab the stain with a white cloth or paper towel.

"I always recommend rubbing with white as this will allow you to see if the stain is fading.

"Repeat the process if necessary and then rinse it off with a damp cloth and some detergent."

microwave

Deodorize and clean your microwave with white vinegar.

Lynsey said, "Mix a gallon of warm water and 2 cups of white vinegar to clean the inside of the refrigerator, including the shelves, walls, and packaging.

"Your refrigerator is clean and smelling clean without damaging your food with harsh chemicals."

Washing machine

Including white vinegar in your wash cycle can improve the appearance of your clothes and keep your machine clean.

Lynsey said, "Put a cap of white wine vinegar in the machine if you feel like your clothes are a little bland.

"Your colors get stronger and your whites whiter."

To clean her washing machine, Lynsey said, "Just put two plugs in the laundry room and then run a hot cycle to cool your machine down."
