NEW YORK (WABC) -- Stomach problems are spreading across the Northeast.
The region currently has the highest norovirus positivity rate, according to the CDC.
The spread is so widespread in some parts of our region that it is paralyzing everyday life for some people.
Earlier this month, Irving Elementary School in Highland Park, New Jersey, was closed due to an outbreak of gastrointestinal illness.
Before classes reopened, the school underwent a thorough cleaning.
Dr. John Whyte, Chief Medical Officer at WebMD, joined the Eyewitness News Mornings @10 team to talk about what norovirus is, why it spreads and what you can do to avoid getting sick.
