From tea bags to grapefruit to white wine, they can help solve the cleaning problem.
Many household items can be used for cleaning and that's exactly what we're talking about in today's Thursday tips!
If your favorite pair of shoes starts to stink, you can use tea bags to eliminate the smell. You can use dried teas that you have not used or that you have actually used to make tea and are about to throw away. Place about 3 of these in each shoe to dry. Black tea works best, but any flavor can be used. Leave it on for 2 to 3 hours or overnight. For wet tea bags, place one in each shoe, leave for an hour, then remove. Wipe off the moisture and then dry it with a hair dryer.
If your children or grandchildren are so enthusiastic about painting that they draw crayons on the walls, all you need is mayonnaise. The spice is made up of oils that help break down the wax in the crayons. Apply a small amount of mayonnaise to the stain and let it sit for a few minutes before wiping with a damp microfiber cloth.
This only helps if you enjoy both red and white wine. If you spill some red wine, immediately use white wine to combat the stain. This is one of many tips for wine stains, but no matter which method you choose, be sure to always blot the stain. Rubbing causes everything to spread.
If you don't have your favorite bathroom cleaner, grab a grapefruit and some salt to remove soap residue. We take half a grapefruit and add a layer of salt. Then rub the grapefruit on the affected areas. Citric acid and coarse salt work together to remove stubborn foam.
