The Wichita Lake Fish Cleaning Station is officially opened

A ceremonial ribbon cutting ceremony marked the official opening of the Wichita Lake cleaning station on Friday.

Gold Coat Ambassador, the Chamber of Commerce, Friends Wichita Lake Reservoire, Arconic representatives and others attended the event on the boat to launch Kemp Street on the east side of the lake.

Tank friends: Stewart Harvey, general manager of the Wichita Lake Chapter, marks a new era in the history of Lake Wichita.

"Today we're excited to open this naughty boy because she is a new day's representative, a new time for Lake Wichita," he said.

It is not a typical old tourist center, he says. A generous cash Arconic has provided for the management of waste storage heavy the population station sturdy and ultra metal with running water, electricity pipes and a system.

"The thing is fantastic. And I think it helps the stage for the future. We are happy to serve as a steering committee and as a chapter of Friends of the Tank, on the sidewalk, leading us. If you can imagine being directly behind you and seeing a resurrected boat launch here, "Harvey said.

The work of the foundation slab and installation was provided by the city of Wichita. The station's metal roof was provided by the Wichita Lake Revitalization Committee through private donations to the Lake Project.

"This paves the way for what's going to happen," Harvey said.

Design work is under way for a new wooden sidewalk and a T-shaped fishing pier. A Veterans Memorial and a renovated boat ramp on Kemp Street are part of the long-term plan for this area north of the fish cleaning station.

Harvey has been saying for too long that Wichita Lake is an undervalued asset to the Wichita Falls Community portfolio.

The fishing industry carries over $ 4 billion a year through Texas and offers attractive fishing opportunities in Wichita, the city can keep more of the money at home.

"After a few quick calculations, we realize that it is an economical engine. And we need to change our narrative as an investment opportunity rather than a cost, and we must be our state of the future, "said Harvey.
