The new season of "Hoarders" will premiere on Monday at A&E. Host Matt Paxton gives tips on cleaning

CHICAGO (WLS) - Matt Paxton, specialist for extreme host cleaning and "accumulators", has been helping people with dangerous product quantities for 20 years. He spoke to ABC7's Janet Davies before the season premiere of "Hoarders" on Monday night.

"Think of the worst in you and suddenly put a TV camera on it," said extreme cleaning specialist Matt Paxton. "It is emotionally demanding and I asked some batteries to share their feelings with me."

"It happens for a reason. It is always caused by trauma," added Paxton. "When someone cares about things because they are looking for happiness and self-esteem in their business, it is no different than someone who is looking for happiness and self-esteem in their business. '' Practice or belief or drugs or alcohol.

With the pandemic that holds many of us at home, he sees that many people are getting rid of the disorder, but not all.

"People are cleaning like never before," said Paxton. "But then we'll have people who haven't even hit the worst of the economy, and we'll have people who hoard food and clothing because they fear they'll never have a job again." I mean, you're going to create a depression-type accumulation scenario. ""

He gave some cleaning tips and asked people to start small.

"If you do this at home, it's 10 minutes a night, 2 feet by 2 feet," said Paxton. "If you can do 10 minutes a night 5 minutes a week, your house will start cleaning."

The "Hoarders" season begins Monday evening at A&E. This network is owned in part by Disney, ABC's parent company.
