"Queer Eye" star Bobby Berk gives tips on spring cleaning

After more than a year in quarantine, your space probably doesn't seem particularly inspiring right now.

But when spring is in full swing there's never a better time to clean up your digs and add new design cues to brighten things up, and if you don't know where to start, 'Queer' is Eye-Star "To help Bobby Berk there.

The home design expert shared his three most important tips on how to beautify your room exclusively with Page Six Style. Don't worry - they don't take as much effort as the full renovations and remodeling you do. You will continue to have a huge impact.

1. Add new vegetation.

There's no faster way to bring spring into your home than with leafy greens rather than the ones you eat.

2. Change the pillows.

39-year-old Berk usually packs tons of comfy pillows and tosses his couches in the colder months; in spring he simplifies the design, brings pillows in warmer colors and drops the blankets.

3. Change the pictures.

"You don't have to buy all of these new things to make your home feel fresh and new," said Berk. Instead, simply reposition existing pictures and paintings in your home and move them from room to room.

When it comes to clutter, Berk recommends that you recycle old magazines ("They pile up, take up space, and are very easy to dispose of," he explained) and those food containers. Lockouts, as well as old, mismatched towels, have likely collected dust in your linen closet or laundry room.

"Pro tip: Donate them to animal shelters. You can still use rags so the animals can sleep and bathe, "said Berk.
