Other suggestions from Ms Hinch's fans included using dishwasher bleach and tablets, and opening the washing machine drawer and door after washing a load.
Laura Shephard said: "Boil laundry at 90°C with bleach in the drum for a full cycle and if using gel, tablet or liquid detergent replace with powder detergent."
Pauline Wigmore replied: "When you're done washing, open the drawer and door so they're completely dry before you close them.
"Also, I switched from capsules to powder and never smelled again."
