According to the US Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) , federal investigators have found yet again that Dollar General, one of the country's largest discounters, this time continues to expose workers and others to unsafe conditions in its stores. . at the West Lafayette, Ohio location.

Since 2017, OSHA has filed a lawsuit against Dollar General Corp. and Dolgencorp LLC fined more than $15 million for numerous workplace safety violations across the country, which the administration described as "willful, repeated and serious." OSHA currently has at least 100 state safety inspection sites in company-owned and operated stores in Goodlettsville, Tennessee.

OSHA inspectors have found the following five repeat safety violations at the West Lafayette site with proposed penalties of $395,717:

  • Storage of cased goods stored over 7ft high in roll containers throughout the retail area
  • Block exit routes and the south exit of the building with wheelbarrows, crates, and containers.
  • Have bags, boxes, and open food containers distributed throughout the store.
  • Block access to fire extinguishers with a ladder, crates, and carts
  • Block access to panels with crates, bins, and carts.

"Dollar General continues to willfully ignore state safety regulations as the company's challenge shows it prioritizes profits over employee safety and well-being," said Larry Johnson, regional director for OSHA in Columbus, Ohio. "Dollar General's reluctance to make changes to its organization and, just as important, to businesses that remain at risk should worry workers and buyers alike."
