A woman has discovered a simple trick to remove bad smells from her washing machine.

As one of the most used appliances in the home, the washing machine is essential to ensure the cleanliness of our clothes, bedding and towels.

However, if you don't clean your washing machine, it may start to smell bad. This means your clean clothes may not smell good at all.

According to the Daily Record, moisture in the washing machine can cause clothes to smell old and ominous. A woman who has tried many ways to clean her washing machine has asked for help on Facebook.

She wrote on Mrs Hinch's cleaning tips and tricks page, named after Sophie Hinchliffe. According to Birmingham Live, Sophie is known on Instagram for her housework and sharing interesting tips.

Her message read: "Help! My washing machine stinks. Tried it, clean program, Zoflora, white vinegar, baking soda. Help!"

More than 100 people responded and many said the same thing: use soda crystals. Someone said: "Wash soda crystals in a hot wash once a month." »

One person said: "Put a few soda crystals in the drum and run them through hot water. »

Another shared: "Soda crystals work for me."

Someone else mentioned: "I got the pods and boiled baking soda one and switched back to the powder and the terrible smell went away - I was going crazy because our clothes smelled terrible."
