Fitness trail: 10 tips to help you recover during your vacation

While this holiday season was less hectic in terms of the number of guests, she was still cooking, cleaning, prepping, packing, and probably not resting as much as she would. mostly.

As winter approaches, follow these 10 tips and give yourself time to relax and enjoy the months to come. As always, consult your doctor before starting any exercise program.

1. Arrange the house. All of the decorations we show during the holiday season are falling apart and need to find their way home from warehouse. Do this as soon as possible to avoid the stress of chaos.

2. Once you've been a little relaxed from exercising regularly, it's time to get back to being consistent. And while you may be a little cautious because you may have lost some of your previous fitness level, remember that taking this proactive approach will make your mind and body respond positively to your schedule.

3. Perhaps it is time to try something new in one of the many fitness programs. If you haven't tried a Pilates reformer, yoga, tai chi, or boxing program, this is the best time to do so to start your exercise program.

4. Schedule a meeting with your personal trainer (which you missed this holiday season) and review your schedule, current fitness, and goals for the next few months.

5. If you've been too busy for your regular massage therapy sessions this holiday season, schedule a massage today and start relaxed in 2021.

6. Complete your visits to the massage therapist by performing a constant stretch and myofascial release with foam rollers or other myofascial release tools.

7. If you have not already done so, check all of your winter sports exercise equipment like skis, snowshoes, ice skates, snowboards, and snowmobiles to make sure everything is back to normal after you've used that equipment. If you already have a night out, take the time to make sure your devices are up and running.

8. If possible, take some rest every day. Even if it's only ten minutes, this time of solitude and reflection sets the pattern for the day ahead. Meditation during this time is a great way to relieve stress, relieve anxiety, and create a balanced and centered connection between your body and mind. Choose a relaxing mantra that matters to you and repeat it during this quiet time. You can also use the same mantra on a busy day or during an especially difficult workout to get back to the center of your universe.

9. Review your eating plan to make sure you are on the right track and add fresh foods specially made for this time of year.

10. There are many recovery tools that are trending in the fitness industry. Always remember to warn Emptor, and if it sounds too good to be true, it's likely cryotherapy chambers, cold lasers, infrared light therapy and photobiomodulation, electrical muscle stimulation (EMS). Do your due diligence first or ask your fitness professional for more information to make an informed, safe, and effective decision.
