A simple and clear guide to Sora in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

The impossible has finally happened: Sora from Kingdom Hearts is finally in Smash. The Keyblade Warrior's moveset can turn you into a tough guy with his floating combo-rich play style. In this guide, we're going to help you go through some of the basics that will help you get more active on the battlefield.

Sakurai did her best for the twelfth and final DLC character in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate . Sora's Smash moveset is a brilliant adaptation of his Kingdom Hearts abilities. And just like in this game, the keyblade is your most valuable asset in battle.

Sora's flying skills and combos set him apart from almost every other character in the game, and if you are to master him, you'll need to learn how they work. His neutral attack (or jab), forward lean, neutral air, and forward air have short three-hit combos that make up the majority of his movement set.

These are the easiest to do, but often the least rewarding. All you have to do is press the attack button that corresponds to the combo you want to perform, so just make your air neutral combo an air neutral (usually the A button / right side button if you are using a single joycon play in mid-air) and when you hit the first shot, press twice more.

You can do the same with any combo he has (jab, forward bend, and forward air). Each of his aerial combos even prevents him from falling temporarily, making it easier to land all three hits. Keep in mind, however, that your opponent could escape these combos, so it's important to read his DI (directional input) and dodge airs if you can. In fact, most of these combinations are not true.

Because of this, Sora offers a number of very good combinations and settings that it can adapt to. You can also use the first two hits of his neutral air combination to chain other movements together. For example, if you take the first two shots with neutral air near the ground, you can tilt it down.

Its downward slope is one of the strongest combos in the game, and you have to master it if you want to play the character. In fact, some of Sora's best combos and setups involve landing his back. Throwing opponents towards Sora results in a number of different moves.

I recommend following it with forward air, neutral air, smash, air or special. That is, the hit of the hit does not take long, so you need to determine what your opponent will do.

For example, if they dodged the air towards the ground, you could easily catch their landing with a forward strike, one of Sora's most powerful ground destruction options. You can also try using their Smash, but since their range is quite limited on the ground, it's best to use them when trying to dodge you in the air.

It also has strong vertical combos thanks to its really powerful tone. Not only is this a decent kill option, especially near the upper blast zone, but it can be paired with itself or with its special, which also deals a lot of damage and kills pretty quickly, especially after a landing or two.

However, many of these combinations are only part of the puzzle. Thanks to Sora's weight and buoyancy, this is a real glass cannon.

Sora's movement options are a double-edged sword. Like characters like Falco or Yoshi, it has a lot of verticality and a very high air jump. But just like Kazuya, this jump in the air takes a long time before he really realizes his weakness.

Its special side also gives it a lot of air freedom, but if you use it incorrectly you will end up accidentally losing a stock or two. It works a lot like Pikachu's special and quick attack where if you hold down the special button (usually the B button or the bottom button if you're using a single joycon) or press it multiple times, you can fire three separate attacks, like in Kingdom Hearts.

Since you can cover such great distances, you can use the Lateral Special to get to the ledge from almost anywhere on the stage, especially in combination with its incredible jump. Its special climb is a solid option too, but it is much more useful for recreation when you are near the ledge.

His recovery options are really solid, making him a really good character if you have a hard time getting back on stage. However, this does not apply to your landing options.

Its buoyancy and weight are certainly its greatest weaknesses.

Other characters that dominate in the air like Yoshi, Falco, Samus or Bayonetta, and characters with a really strong combination like Captain Falcon, Terry, Kazuya, Sheik and Mario will benefit from their weight and buoyancy in the way that you possibly can don't even land safely.

Since his jump takes so long to complete, you're more likely to get stuck in combos. You need to learn SDI (Smash Directional Input) and time your evasive maneuvers correctly.

He's also one of the lightest characters in the game, so you'll need to be very careful with some of the heavyweights on the list like Ganondorf, Ike, and Captain Falcon as well. Even some characters who are having a hard time killing, like Sheik or Fox, might have an easier time sending Sora.

Fortunately, he's not completely disarmed. Its display only hits the front, so it's not the most useful landing tool, but it can at least help you escape some combos. Its downward air is a really solid landing option too. If you are in the air and have trouble landing, you will run towards the stage and damage everything in your path.

This is not a one-size-fits-all solution, especially since different characters have attacks that can disrupt Sora. It also has a large landing lag when you do it near the stage.

Sora is brand new to the list, like really new. In fact, I'm sure that in two weeks' time he will be a completely different character thanks to a new technique discovered by a professional gamer. If you stay up to date and the details of your more moving sets out like if more people know about it, you should Dusty Carpet _ Elegant and Nakat on twitter note .

That being said, the best way to learn the character is to just play it! If you want to become the cleanest Sora, put him in the ultimate training mode and try out some of these tips. Just keep in mind that Training Mode has some useful tools to help you figure out the most basic combos, but it's not the most comprehensive unless you install a few mods to reinforce some of the smaller details.

That means it will make a difference to play against friends online or even enter a tournament and exchange tips with other local Sora players.
