A new season is upon us here at Colorado State University. Are they back students on campus learning the ins and outs of their classes? Or is it fall squash spice that begins to form in the air as it cools?

no It's piercing season.

Piercing season is simple in what it brings. This is the time when every new freshman on campus gets a piercing of some form. Whatever the reason, if you're thinking of getting a piercing, you've come to the right place. I'm here to give you the ultimate guide to the best piercing to get during this exciting time in your college life.

1. Nose piercings

The obvious answer is the elegant, timeless, and effortless nostril piercing. If there were a perfect puncture point, it would be the nostril. It's especially appealing to college students who want to show their parents that they can do something crazy without committing to a tattoo.

Calls are easy to see. It only takes a few months to heal, and while there is a risk of keloids , they can usually be prevented by carefully following the piercer's cleaning instructions. Once the piercing comes out, there is usually little or no scar left.

There are also many great jewelry options for a nostril piercing, ranging from the simple and elegant ideas to the most extravagant. The possibilities are endless which makes the nostril a great piercing.

2. Earlobe Piercings

If you're feeling a little crazy, but not crazy, get some more pierced ears. Many people think that a lobe piercing is boring, but they see no potential in adding variety to their jewelry ensembles.

The real beauty of lobe piercings is that they look so pretty while being so simple. There's a reason these are the first piercings most kids get: They're easy to heal . It's hard to fix a bad earlobe piercing, but it's always possible. Again follow the cleaning instructions given to you by your piercer.

Don't stop at lobe piercing. You can get your seconds or even your thirds. While every new piercing comes with the potential pain of getting pierced, it doesn't have a huge impact on your face or the image you present to others.

"The truth about piercings is that they're fun until you try to heal them. Healing a piercing is exhausting and often painful. I'm not going to say whether or not you should get a piercing, but it's worth it. It's worth considering why would you want one now.

3. Septal perforation

When you exit the world of tame piercings, that's when the real fun begins. Changing your body permanently just because you can is always fun, right? So much for doing anything.

A classic example of this is the septum piercing. A septum piercing is by no means crazy, after all it's just another part of the nose, but it has a very different meaning than an ear or even a nose piercing.

A septum is a bit more unruly; there is something more. That would certainly deter most parents of newly relocated students. That's the goal, isn't it?

They may seem wild to older adults, but septum piercings are safe and generally easy to come by. They require no more maintenance than a nostril piercing and are less likely to become irritated because of their position. They also don't usually leave scars, at least not for anyone to see.

4. Various wild piercings

Septum piercings are a solid option for the scare your parents tactic to get you through the first few days of college, but there are other options if that's not right for you. You could get this belly button piercing or embrace your punk rock side with an eyebrow or lip piercing.

The truth with piercings is that they're fun until you try to fix them. Healing a piercing is exhausting and often painful. I'm not going to say whether or not you should get a piercing, but it's worth considering why you might want to get one now. Is it because you want it or to scare your parents? Just food for thought.

If you are considering getting a piercing my only advice is to never get your helix pierced. You are the worst. Trust me on that.
