I'm an appliance pro... why you should never dry clothes on radiators - The Sun

An APPLIANCE expert has revealed why people should never dry their wet clothes on radiators, and high energy bills are just one reason.

The expert explained why drying wet clothes on radiators is not a good idea, and high energy bills are just one reason.

But while it may seem like a quick and easy way to get your clothes ready, one expert says it's not necessarily the best idea.

During a conversation with The Express , a PlumbNation pro explained why you might want to find an alternative to drying clothes.

"We recommend that you stop using your radiators to dry your clothes.

"The clothes you put on your radiators prevent heat from escaping and heating up your space, which means your boiler has to take over and run at a higher rate, driving up costs.

"Similarly, increased humidity can lead to condensation, which can lead to potential mold problems."

According to the guru, piling wet clothes on radiators can do more harm than good.

This joint sanding allows the water in the clothing to evaporate from the fabric, which then turns into moisture in the air.

Too much moisture in the air can often lead to condensation forming on cool surfaces like windows, mirrors and walls.

To make matters worse, modern homes are actually more prone to condensation as they tend to have better condensation and draft protection.

Such buildings retain heat better but lack as much ventilation, an important aspect that can lead to air locks and dampness.

Excess moisture in the air often causes black mold to grow on walls and around windows.

Not only does this make it an unsightly find, but this unsightly fungus can also cause a variety of health problems, including respiratory problems.

Instead of tossing clothes on radiators, Brits can dry clothes on hot racks, washing lines or outside on the washing line if temperatures are warm enough.

Another effective option is to use the dryer; however, importantly, the machine can cost up to £2.34 per cycle of use.
