Anything that makes our life easier is good for us, especially if it reduces the time spent on the menial tasks; Cleaning is one of them.

Mom and influencer Carolina McCauley knows all about simplifying your everyday life and shares tips on TikTok .

In a series of videos titled How to Clean Smarter, Not Harder, the Australia-based content creator reveals the methods and gadgets that make your to-do list a breeze.

From tools to help you change sheets without breaking a sweat to making your own eco-friendly kitchen towels, there's a lot to learn.

To help you with this, we have put together some useful tips and tricks.

Forget elbow grease and endless scrubbing, here's how to make cleaning your home easier.

Reuse your toilet paper rolls

When you're done with a toilet paper roll, don't throw away the inner cardboard tube.

Instead, place one over your vacuum's nozzle and gently pinch the end. This allows you to insert it into hard-to-reach areas (like window frames and door rails) and pick up stubborn dirt easily.

Use drain covers

We recently wrote about an amazing tool that pulls hair and unclogs drains , but this hack means it doesn't have to go that far.

Carolina recommends using shower drain covers to catch debris before it becomes clogged, and they are universal so they fit all sinks and drains.

Buy a pack of five reusable drain covers for £8.99 from Amazon.

Make homemade lemonades for the bath

You've probably seen these bubbly bath bombs in supermarkets before, although you can save money by making them yourself.

Carolina mixes baking soda, water, and citric acid into a paste and pours the mixture into a large bowl with ice cubes. After drying overnight, the cubes can be stored in a cool, dry place and flushed down the toilet whenever you want to freshen up the cistern.

Place a clean towel in your dryer

If you have a dryer, Carolina says, you can speed up drying time by placing a clean towel with your load.

You can experiment with wet or dry additions as different devices will give different results.

Use a silicone toilet brush.

Toilet brushes can harbor bacteria, dirt and odors, so the Perth mom recommends switching to a silicone version.

It's far more hygienic, and the ergonomic design allows you to reach areas that bulkier brushes might miss.

Buy it from Amazon for €7.98.

Invest in an electric scrubber

Carolina shows an ingenious device to reduce the effort involved in cleaning the bathroom and kitchen.

The electric scrubber has multiple heads that spin at 300rpm to do the hard work of making windows, showers and hard surfaces shine for you.

It's also a favorite of cleaning influencer Mrs Hinch and very helpful if you have mobility or accessibility issues.

Buy it from Amazon for €32.99.

Save yourself the heavy lifting of changing the sheets

Changing the sheets is a necessary task, but it can really relieve you.

Carolina reduces the need for heavy lifting with a specially designed wedge that fits under the mattress and lifts it to change sheets.

It's a simple product that really fits the definition of smart, not harder, cleaning.

Buy a 2-pack for £15.99 from Amazon.

Use shaving foam for a brilliant shine

Instead of using shaving cream for its intended purpose, Carolina advises reusing it as a cleaning product.

Any old shaving cream will work, and the household guru says, "It'll shine and smell nice."

Remove water stains around faucets

Faucet bases can get dirty, with hard water stains and mold clinging to the caulk, and need a lot of cleaning, until now of course.

Carolina recommends soaking cleaning cloths in white vinegar before wrapping the cloth around the bottom of the faucet and allowing it to do its job. When the stains seem to go away, simply wipe away any residue.

Production of ecological cleaning towels

Disposable wipes are bad for the planet, but this hack allows you to have eco-friendly, reusable wipes on hand.

In a large bowl, combine 2 cups of water, 1 cup of vinegar, and 1/2 cup of rubbing alcohol. Put your favorite (clean) wipes in the jar and you have disinfectant wipes that can be washed after use.

Choose a wet/dry vacuum

To save you time picking up spills, Carolina's Holy Grail is a wet/dry vacuum that effortlessly removes liquids, dust and everything in between.

"Clean up ugly spills without breaking your back," Mom says.

His choice is Bissell CrossWave, which works well on both hard floors and carpets. Opt for an in-machine Febreze solution to also eliminate pet odors.

Buy the Bissell CrossWave Pet Pro for £239 (was £299.99) from Amazon.
