Mrs. Hinch's convection oven cleaning trick makes shelves sparkle like diamonds

Cleaning the oven is a dreaded task for many, but it should be done to remove baked-on food and caked grease.

Of the hundreds of comments the post received, the most popular solution was to use washing powder, reports the Express .

One Hinch fan said: "I put mine in the tub with a couple tablespoons of dish soap and very hot water to cover it.

"Let them soak for about an hour. Then wipe them off with a cloth. That works wonders. They sparkle like a diamond, it's magical."

Oven racks seem to mysteriously collect grease and dirt. One day they're shiny, lustrous stainless steel, the next day they're covered in mottled black and brown specks that are almost impossible to remove.

Even with sparing use of the oven, residue will always form, and ignoring the task only delays the inevitable. It will also make the job of removing dirt much more difficult.
