When removing limescale, avoid bleach and cleaning sprays and opt for a “power” paste with two ingredients.

An expert has presented homeowners with a cost-effective way to permanently remove limescale deposits , even in bathrooms .

Since they are a breeding ground for limescale and mold , removing them from your bathroom may be quite difficult, but not impossible.

Removing limescale deposits can improve the appearance of your bathroom and keep your faucets and showers working efficiently.

Brian Toward, home improvement specialist and CEO of leading bathroom retailer Wholesale Domestic, explained: "While limescale itself is not directly harmful, it can lead to the growth of bacteria, affecting water quality."

"Deposits can also build up in pipes and restrict water flow, resulting in reduced water pressure and plumbing problems that can be costly if left untreated."

Brian presented three cost-effective methods for removing limescale:

lemon juice and salt

"To remove limescale, cut a lemon in half and soak it in salt to create a natural cleaning solution," she explains. "The citric acid in lemon juice dissolves limescale deposits, while the salt helps remove it from surfaces."

vinegar and baking soda

Brian shared this simple strategy, saying, "Like lemon juice and salt, equal parts white vinegar and baking soda can be mixed to create an effective paste that can remove limescale."

"Apply the paste to limescale-affected areas such as faucets, showerheads and tiles and leave for a few hours before scrubbing with a brush and rinsing well."

Coca-Cola

It may seem like a pretty strange cleaning tool, but Brian swears it works. He explained: "Most people are surprised that Coca-Cola can help dissolve limescale, but it can because it contains phosphoric acid."

"Pour Coca-Cola over the affected areas and leave it on for several hours or overnight. Then scrub the area with a brush and rinse."
