Find out exactly how to clean your raw white van here.

I don't know anything about you, but I live in white sneakers, especially in my vans. I use it with everything. We talk about jeans, shorts, skirts, dresses and many other outfits. But they can quickly go from light white to dark and dusty if you use them as often as I do. It is therefore important to keep them clean.

Don't get me wrong, the worn look is a mood too, but there is a difference between a slightly worn look and a walk in the mud. If your white vans fall into the last category, they may need to be cleaned thoroughly to make them look like new again. Whether canvas or leather, we have what you need. These tips will save you a lot of money when buying new sneakers and are also quite simple. If you don't know, now you know ...

If you just need to clean ...

A Clorox Bleach pen works wonders on a white Vans canvas. If your sneakers are really dirty, this is probably not the way to go, but if there are only a few small dots, this is a great solution.

If your sneakers are made of canvas ...

The good news is that you probably already have most of these supplies at home. Take hydrogen peroxide , baking soda, and an old toothbrush or brush cleaning shoes . Then follow the steps below!

      1. Take off your shoelaces. It is better to clean them separately, but we will come back to that later.
      2. Make a cleaning solution. Combine the baking soda and hydrogen peroxide in a bowl. The trick is to use hydrogen peroxide twice with sodium bicarbonate, so for every tablespoon of sodium bicarbonate, half tablespoons lack hydrogen peroxide.
      3. Take the toothbrush (or other bristle brush), dip it in the cleaning solution and rub the dirt on your shoes. This combination is a dynamic duo: baking soda helps remove stubborn stains, and peroxide acts as a bleach.
      4. When you're satisfied with the white of your sneakers, rinse them off with a cloth dampened in water.
      5. If you really want to dig deeper, you can clean the soles with a magic eraser . Let them air dry (read: DO NOT DRY) and voila !

If your sneakers are made of leather ...

You will want to be a little sweeter with them. You can still completely clean the soles with a magic eraser , but the shoe is a little different from the canvas.

        1. Take off your shoelaces.
        2. Let the hydrogen peroxide fall. Use baking soda and water to prepare the leather cleaning solution. You still want the 2: 1 ratio mentioned earlier, so use twice as much water as baking soda to make your dough.
        3. Use a cloth instead of a brush. A brush can be hard on the material, so all you have to do is dip the cloth in the solution and rub against the dark spots until they disappear.
        4. As an optional but refined step, you can add a leather care product to your transporter after it has dried.

What if you don't want to mess around with it?

If you don't want to use the supplies that you already have at home or just don't have them on hand, this is not a problem. There are many shoe cleaning kits that you can buy to deliver the materials. They are also often delivered in an easy-to-store container that you can keep for future use.

"Can't I just put them in the washing machine?"

If your sneakers are made of leather, it's a great old NOPE. If they're canvas, aren't they? Sometimes the washing machine can be risky, even if your kicks seem to hold up - I washed the slippers before and they weren't the same afterwards. So wash at your own risk. And never (repeat, never ) put your shoes in the dryer.
